A Modern Movie Night, Redefined and Reclined The concept of "going to the movies" has been a cultural staple for generations, but what that entails is constantly evolving. The sticky floors, cramped seats, and a simple choice between popcorn and licorice are fading into a nostalgic past. In their place rises the modern entertainment complex, and Cineplex's Junxion at Erin Mills Town Centre is a prime example of this evolution, transforming a simple movie outing into a full-fledged entertainment experience. Itās a venue that understands the appeal of the big screen is no longer just about the film itself, but the entire environment in which you experience it. From the moment you walk in, the Junxion feels different. The ambiance is less traditional movie theatre and more upscale entertainment lounge. Sleek, modern design elements, dynamic lighting, and an energetic buzz greet you, immediately setting a vibrant tone. A significant portion of the floor space is dedicated to a sprawling arcade, flashing and chiming with a diverse collection of games. While my visit was solely focused on the cinematic offering, the sheer scale of the gaming area was impossible to ignore. It creates a lively, almost festive atmosphere that contrasts sharply with the quiet reverence of older cinemas. This isn't a place for hushed whispers; it's a hub of activity. The real star of the show, however, lies beyond the arcade floor, inside the theatre auditoriums. The promise of a premium viewing experience is delivered emphatically by the seating: full, plush, leather-style recliner chairs. This single feature fundamentally changes the act of watching a movie. Gone is the fidgeting, the battle for armrest supremacy, or the awkward shuffling to let someone pass. Here, you sink into your own personal pod of comfort. With the touch of a button, the chair smoothly reclines to your preferred angle, complete with a footrest that rises to meet you. The generous spacing between rows means you have an abundance of personal space, creating a sense of privacy and luxury that makes it feel more like a home theatre than a public one. It allows you to become completely absorbed in the film, your comfort so total that the chair itself seems to melt away, leaving only you and the screen. This level of comfort, paired with state-of-the-art projection and sound, justifies the premium experience. The screen is vast and the audio is crisp and immersive, as one would expect, but itās the ability to enjoy it from a position of complete relaxation that makes the Junxion stand out. You arenāt just watching a movie; you are settling in for an event. While I didn't partake in the games or the expanded food and drink menu, their presence is integral to the Junxion's identity. Itās a venue designed to be a destination, not just a waypoint. You could easily spend hours here, transitioning from a meal to an hour of gaming before sinking into a recliner for the evening's blockbuster. For families or groups of friends, it offers a versatile "all-in-one" night out. For the dedicated cinephile, it offers an exceptionally comfortable way to see a film. The Cineplex Junxion at Erin Mills is a resounding success in its mission to modernize the cinema experience. It may not appeal to the purist seeking a silent, solemn film-watching environment. But for those looking for a comfortable, high-energy, and multifaceted entertainment destination, it hits all the right notes. The games provide the energy, but the recliner chairs provide the magic, ensuring that your full attention is on the screen, all while you relax in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis theatre would get no stars from me This situation was handled poorly from start to finish involving unfair treatment and discrimination by Andrew (Theatre manager) and racial remarks made by Josh (Theatre manager). Specifically, I was subjected to repeated and unwelcomed comments and also wrongly identified as "Indian." December 7 I purchased 2 tickets for Red One @7:35pm for me and my daughter. To my surprise when we arrive to our seats in aud 5 seats E8 & E9 there is a male and female in our seats. I say to them, āexcuse me it looks like youāre in our seats,ā show them my movie tickets and they show me theirs, saying no. I say there must be a mix up and I leave to get help There were 2 cast members standing outside of the theatre, i explained the situation and asked them for help they were unsuccessful as the couple said they were not getting up. The cast members went to get one of the theatre managers Andrew to help. 10-15 mins passes by and Andrew approaches us and says can you please follow me outside and informs us heās spoken to the couple and theyāre refusing to leave, and he offers us to sit in the front row, we can watch another movie, or complimentary passes. I was understanding at first but none of those options were viable for what was taking place. I started asking questions with much frustration, not yelling or swearing but simply frustrated! I asked isnāt there protocols for these types of situations, were the options presented to me presented to this couple? He advised that the mix up was on the concession staffās part as the couple thought they were purchasing tickets for 7:35pm but their tickets were in fact for the 10:30pm show, and theyāre refusing to get up and he says ātheyāre an elderly couple you know how it isā, in my opinion they were a middle aged couple in perfect, healthy condition enjoying their snacks prepared to watch a movie. It was privileged behavior. I continue to stand my ground that I didnāt feel the situation was being handled correctly, at this point we are standing right outside of the theatre doors, Andrew slams the door in a haste and vulgarly says āwhat would you like me to do, rip them out of their seats?ā and they try not to use security to remove people. At this point I was in disbelief that this was taking place and I say this is not worth my time and I walk away with my daughter. Andrew then comes running after me and says, you know I am trying to help and youāre not cooperating. Suddenly 2 more team members appear so now thereās 3 males standing before me. I say to Andrew I donāt think you are trying to help, is it because theyāre an elderly white couple theyāre receiving different treatment then me? At this point this is the impression I am getting. Immediately the team member Josh steps forward to me and puffs his chest out and says, āWOULD YOU LIKE ME TO GET AN INDIAN MANAGER TO GET YOU TO LEAVEā. I was stunned and had no words because why was I being threatened to leave the premise and feeling like I was in the wrong here when I was the one in fact entitled and should have had a favourable outcome,
Due to character limits the story is shortened. I am curious to know in what circumstances security is used to remove people and how many...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDecided to check out this theatre as it is only 10 minutes from home and boy did it not disappoint šš¾
We got our tickets online (that pesky online booking fee will forever be an issue with me. Why are we paying extra to buy online? Isn't this why everyone is getting rid of live agents?) But, I digress.....entering you are taken in by how massive the space is especially in that lounge area.
The staff said hello to us upon entering and we made our way to the concession stands for popcorn šæ
The team player quickly explained to us that due to supply issues they did not have a few of the items we were looking for. Bummer but no biggie, we ordered alternatively and was still satisfied.
He did say there was no margarine topping (the free stuff) so we got butter instead. Upon walking past the machine it had margarine topping and worked perfectly fine š
The coke machine is freaking amazing šš¾ The choices are stellar and plentiful especially in the no sugar/sugarfree category. That was truly impressive.
We were greeted by another team member who scanned our tickets and off we went. Upon entering the theatre you could smell that new car smell scent in the air. The theatre was small enough to be cozy and big enough to give you that theatre feeling.
We found our seats and what a complete surprise and shocker. They were soooooooo comfortable. Oh my word. You did not feel squished if someone was beside you. Having a place for your drinks and snacks is a far cry from having to put your popcorn on the floor etc. In between.
The leg room...oh my word. Even reclined someone can walk by you without any issues.
The washrooms were very spacious and I loved the fact that the hand dryers were also located at the sink.
The only downside was the toilet š» after using it did not flush. There was also no manual override to flush. Stood in there for 7 mins trying to figure out why it wouldn't flush and trying to find a manual sensor and or switch for flushing. Had to walk away and let someone know.
Overall my family really enjoyed our visit and we will be back. I can say without a doubt this will be our new spot for movies š¬
I don't think I could go back to anything else after this...
