I had a few decent experiences here but the last time I came (this past Sunday) was terrible. After we were seated, we waited a long time before the server attended to us. Nobody asked us if we wanted coffee or drinks while we waited as is standard at a busy breakfast joint. When the server did arrive, he mumbled quietly and incoherently with a heavy Indian accent and I had to ask him to repeat himself. He still was incoherent. I gave up and began ordering. My choice was the breakfast tacos which were clearly listed under the section that came with a side. The server indicated “this is a mistake” and it didn’t come with a side. If I wanted a side it would be extra. So I asked how much it would be. He asked how many pancakes I wanted without saying what this extra cost would be. I asked him to give me options and he seemed taken by surprise. Getting a server to answer questions and offer options should not be like pulling teeth. I was hungry and had been waiting a while already so I ordered what I intended—with $6 extra for two pancakes which in retrospect is insane. It is standard for a breakfast place to bring coffee before the meal which they eventually did but it took forever and we just sat there in the meantime. By the time it arrived the food was already on its way. The tacos were fine but the pancakes were cold (not just cooled down). The server forgot to bring us cutlery with our food and we had to ask. The place was extremely packed and busy but he carried himself like he had no energy at all. As I was cashing out, the server was peering over at the machine as if to survey the tip. It was so uncomfortable and I honestly regret leaving a tip at all. I wish I saved the receipt so I could name this person. Overall the worst service I have experienced in some time. The service has definitely gone downhill in the short amount of time this place has been open (I always come Sunday mornings so it wasn’t the busy time). I will not be back.

Went with a large group of 14 people (7 adults and 7 children) and were given two tables. It seems our server was given the responsibility to serve the whole row where we we're sitting. Consequently, as the row was full, we had our meals brought in stages. This meant 3 of our kids were missing meals, and we also had 2 adults, who also waited on their meals. Because the kids were hungry by then, others shared their meals with them so they didn't feel left out. This wasn't the level of service we were expecting with me going to the kitchen myself for a few extra plates and also going to seek out some different sauces as I couldn't wait on our server. To lessen the blow, our server brought us some free 🍨. However, come time to pay we we're told that 18% would be added to our overall bills as we were a large party. I complained that 18% was steep considering we weren't even served on time as a large group needed more service, and we weren't satisfied with the service. The manager came and explained that one of the ladies in our party was told 18% was the tipping rate. My concerns of service were communicated to the manager. Anyway as I didnt want to create a scene, we paid 15% but letting other customers know we won't be coming with our large group to this establishment anymore as their service isn't upto par for large groups. The uploaded receipt clearly shows "suggested gratuities" but beware of this place and that clearly isn't the practice here. They should hire more staff for the weekend rush and not fleece customers with 18% when their service clearly isn't up to an 18%. Other places have a 15% tipping rule, but IHOP seems to think 18% is standard. Well, I disagree, and I'm sure others will as well. Watch out for the service of this place.

I came here on the strength of the glowing ratings. In hindsight, I can only assume the 2,400+ five-star reviewers either ordered nothing but pancakes or simply don’t eat out often enough to know the difference. The pancakes are, admittedly, decent — not exceptional, but competent. Beyond that, the food is a study in striving for mediocrity. The service sets the tone: even with an empty dining room, dishes arrived with glacial slowness. The “medium” poached eggs in my (not spicy at all )spicy eggs bennidict was served chalk-dry, and while it was eventually replaced, the correction took another 15–20 minutes. Hollandaise? Nowhere to be found. A 10-ounce T-bone advertised on the menu was “unavailable” — but only after I had ordered and waited. The substitute steak was closer to four ounces, cut into scraps, drowned in onions and mushrooms, with a thick, tasteless gravy. The plate arrived with fewer eggs, fewer pancakes, and instead, the insult of six grapes and two slices of unripe pineapple — yet I was still charged for the original dish. In sum: if you care about food, don’t bother. Unless your palate has atrophied to the point where pancakes alone define quality, you’ll leave disappointed. The endless stream of glowing reviews? I can only attribute them to an older clientele whose standards have been eroded by repetition and nostalgia. I will not return, and I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone who still possesses functioning taste buds.

Came here as a group of girls to have brunch. We were told we could put our name down for the waitlist, which would take 30mins. We were then told we could go out and come back when we got a text that our table was ready.

We walked out, and finally got a text 45 minutes after that our table was ready. We immediately came back 7 minutes after the text. The host had then told us because we took 10 minutes our table was passed on and we were to wait an extra 10 minutes. We did not argue with her, but found it ridiculous that she told us we could walk around and come back after we received a text and did exactly that, just to get our table given away. It was also ridiculous that our table was given away immediately when we came back before 10 minutes has passed.

That aside, it took extremely long to get our first drinks. The server seemed to have forgotten our drink orders and was mixing them up. We had asked for waters and the waiter was bringing us the drinks one by one each time instead of just bringing all of the drinks in a tray. One person in our party never received her drink until 25-35 minutes into sitting, while the rest of the group was halfway done their drinks.

The majority of us were done our drinks long before the food arrived. Once the food arrived, some parts of the meals were missing or incorrect. We had to remind her that one of the plates was missing a side of potatoes. Furthermore, one person ordered the chicken and waffles but received pancakes instead. The server seemed confused and it took extremely long for the individual to receive the right meal, when everyone was almost done eating, with no compensation whatsoever. This was the same individual who had to wait 30 minutes for her drink.

One of the plates with blueberry pancakes was topped with lemon zest, but my friend had to spit out multiple bites of food as the zest was more so thick chunks of lemon peel and lemon. Needing to spit out parts of your entire meal is not an experience anyone would like to have.

Our table was missing cutlery and condiments, and it was shocking to see that the server didn’t notice that we had nothing to use to eat our meals with.

We had then asked for the bills and a couple of take out boxes. It took extremely long to receive our bills. When the server came with the bills and billed us out, she had forgotten to bring us the take out boxes and we had to remind her. She came back with tiny boxes that did not even fit the large pancakes that we had wished to bring home.

This “brunch” from 12:30pm took so long, we ended up leaving at 2:30pm.

Overall, none of the 5 of us will be coming back. We will also not be recommending this place to anyone. As I also work in the restaurant industry I understand the stress and how it is when it gets busy, but this should never be an experience a guest should have. Very disappointing and frustrating. I am not the type to write a poor review, but this was beyond any disappointing experience any of us ever had at...

I recently visited IHOP on Eglinton Avenue, and unfortunately, this was the worst breakfast experience I’ve had in Canada. I usually give restaurants the benefit of the doubt, but considering IHOP is a well-known brand, the quality of food and service was hard to ignore.

We ordered two Split Decision breakfasts and a Jalapeño Burger with a side of salad. The first issue started with the drinks. I ordered an iced coffee with milk and foam on top, which the server said they could make. What I got was a watered-down coffee with no milk, and the “foam” was just a separate cup of milk with a few bubbles in it. They could have simply asked for more details before bringing out something so off from what was expected. Even getting water took about 10 minutes, which didn’t make sense, especially since the restaurant wasn’t even busy.

For the food:

First Split Decision: Instead of French toast, I ordered regular toast, leaving a huge empty space on my plate. It looked terrible, but at least the food itself wasn’t bad.

Second Split Decision: This one came with the original French toast, but they placed it on a separate plate, making the main plate look empty. The French toast itself was tasteless, drenched in syrup, and somehow still had no flavor.

Jalapeño Burger with Salad: The burger was the size of my palm but served on a big breakfast plate, making it look even smaller. It had no sauce inside, making it extremely dry and inedible. The patty was frozen and tasted awful. The salad came on a separate plate and had old tomatoes, wilted lettuce, and a tiny portion of pre-packaged Kraft dressing that wasn’t nearly enough. They could have easily fixed this by using properly sized plates for presentation, ensuring portions matched the plate size, and including sauce inside the burger to make it edible.

Pancakes: Small portions, completely dry, and flavorless.

Service was also slower than expected, despite the place not being busy. It really felt like there was no attention to detail in either the food or the service. A few simple improvements like asking more detailed questions before serving drinks, using proper plates, and ensuring food was made with care could have made a huge difference. Service: 3/5 | Food: 1.5/5 | Presentation: 2/5. I will probably not be coming...

The experience started off poorly right from the get-go.

Two of us walked in and were told to wait while they cleaned a table. It was very odd as 80% of the tables were free. The 'clean' was a quick wipe down with an old cloth.

Things only got worse after. Coffee in a steel kettle, pour your own. No diner vibes here. As expected but the customer service is nonexistent. The waitresses bumble and mumble between each other and don't look happy to be there.

They have tvs with the exact same weather station on and some nature info playing...shouldn't even have this on. It's dull and boring. What made it worse is they had some segment on ticks. My friend asked the waitresses to change the channel as no one wants to see ticks being removed when they are about to eat. The response she gave was 'it's been on like this since we opened'. We asked her to change it or turn it off... She said she didn't know how but would get the manager. Never returned.

Finally our food came out...

The picture I posted is of the 'split decision'. The French toast was stale and looked more like a piece of toast. Bacon was burnt, and the sausages were dried out. Over easy eggs over cooked.

My friend got the breakfast sampler, which came out terrible. The potatoes were raw, and his bacon was even worse, shattered like glass when he took a bite. Charred. He took a bite to demonstrate this to them as well.

We called the manager over and shared our meal. All she said was sorry over and over, but that's it. We didn't want another meal or anything, and as we took only a couple bites of what we had, we decided to leave.

There was zero attention paid to the food leaving the kitchen. Also, it seems they reheat food and serve it again.

During our visit, another lady with her husband had a bad experience, and we could hear them complain as well.

Most of the positive reviews are from bots or friends of the staff. It's very easy to tell.

The owners do not care. There is no customer service training provided, and it shows.

The staff are awkward and do not have the attitude to be servers.

Hire a more diverse staff and provide training to your managers on how to handle quality control and customer expectations.

Not...
