Barber Salon Levon — Local services in Montreal

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience at this salon.

My husband made an appointment for me to get a haircut while he also got his done on the male side of the salon. I arrived for my appointment time and the stylist was outside smoking. I walked into the salon and was not welcomed in by the staff member who was inside. Obviously this would not be a big deal on its own, but it does contribute to the overall poor service that I received.

Once the stylist came in, I told him that I had an appointment. He said that he has another client (who had not yet started her appointment - not sure if she booked a time or was a walk-in) and that her hair would take a long time. I wonder - why would you schedule my appointment if you were not intending on respecting the appointment time?

Luckily, the other client encouraged him to do my hair first as I only wanted a trim. He sat me in the chair and brushed my hair for a few minutes, and then went to the male side of the salon and grabbed male hair shavers. He then got me to stand up as he sat, and he proceeded to trim my hair rapidly with shavers. It took about 5 minutes and then my appointment was over. I've never had an experience like this at a salon.

I asked him for the cost of the appointment and he (seemingly arbitrarily) decided on $60. This was $60 for the quickest trim of my life (no wash, etc.), where I stood as he trimmed an inch of my hair with shavers, for five minutes or less.

I told him that it said that trims are $40 on the website. He lied and replied that it says $40-$60 on the website. I should have pulled the website up to show him that he was incorrect, but I was just so baffled at the poor service.

I understand he had another client to work on, but I don't think that's a reason to rush an appointment that I booked in advance and provide me with this level of poor service.

I feel like he thought he was being clever/sneaky by doing my appointment with shavers to quickly get me out the door and then charge me $60 for it!

Moreover, the salon's cleanliness was lacking. It was not swept. I also noticed that the stylist threw his cigarette butt (which is plastic pollution, by the way) on the sidewalk outside of the salon.

Overall, my experience comes in great contrast to the bulk of the other reviews. I wonder if I received poor quality service because the owner of the salon didn't appear to be working that day. I hope the salon takes this feedback into consideration and strives to uphold consistent and...
