Penwood Furniture is one of the best furniture stores I've shopped at. I bought a table and sideboard made by Cardinal Woodcraft. The design and craftsmanship are impressive, and I've received many compliments on the furniture. It feels great knowing that such well designed and constructed products are made in Canada. I shopped at many of the high-end furniture stores in the GTA before coming here and saw worse-quality tables made of Acacia wood by Western companies in countries with low labour standards or with wood veneers for similar or more money.

Penwood offered the most competitive price for Cardinal Woodcraft that I could I find in the western GTA. Just because I was custom ordering the furniture down to the height of the legs and the colour of the hardware doesn't mean they gouged me for the privilege--the prices were very reasonable for custom-ordered oak furniture. There was minimal assembly involved, which was a nice change of pace from IKEA. The sales people at Penwood were genuinely friendly, very knowledgeable, well mannered, and very helpful. When one of the pieces got scratched a few months after I brought it home, they touched it up flawlessly and free of charge at my home. They seem to work hard every step of the way and deserve the 5 stars in my opinion. The store looks unassuming outside and inside, but they're wonderful. If I could give 0 stars I would. What a horrible experience trying to order a dining room set from this place. I will never buy from them again. Got my table delivered after waiting over 3 months for it and it arrived painted solid black instead of the medium brown stain I had ordered. They blamed it on having two paint samples of the same color name in the store! One of the chairs was also damaged. They ordered a second table and I waited another 3 months for delivery. 2nd table was the wrong color again! The finishing also looked so cheap and horrible - like a cheap gel paint stain. Plus the legs on the second table were not what I chose. It was totally not what I ordered and waited for so long.
