Eggsmart — Restaurant in Oakville

I would never step foot in this restaurant ever again and in reality it deserves no stars but I had to put one in order to write a review. The moment we sat down in this restaurant the service was bad. We ordered our coffee and a few minutes later it came but the waitress sort of "threw" it on the table and walked away. From the first negative experience being as soon as we walked in, I did not have high expectations. We looked over the menu and waited for someone to take our order but it seemed like we were waiting for too long. During our wait for our order to be taken I saw the FIRST unhygenic act in the kitchen. I witnessed the main cook on his cellphone while cooking. This is not professional nor sanitary. I then watched him place his phone back near the food prep station and continue cooking without washing his hands or put on gloves. Once our order was placed it took forever to come out. Our food sat on the food bench waiting to be served for about 10 minutes. Our food was soggy and had no flavour. Their "home fries" aka largely chopped potatoes, were barely cooked as they were still firm on the inside. By the time we were done our meal, the waitress came by once again and "threw" the debit machine on our table and said see you again. She never came back after that. I then watched the cook go to the computer screen, punch something in and continue to cook and once again never washed his hands. I quote "It ruined my day and wasted my time". The only reason I would ever step back into this restaurant is to state my outrage and to hand them a spice rack to hopefully make their food a little...

This is my first experience at this restaurant chain. At this location, service was good; friendly and helpful. However the food was not so great. I ordered the same meal I usually order when I go out to any breakfast place; eggs, ham and potatoes (straight up, no dairy or wheat added). The eggs were perfect and yummy, so that's good. However the ham was pale and wasn't great in terms of texture or taste. It also was smothered in visibly yellow oil, which is not like anything I've seen before and isn't appealing. The potatoes were dry and even with ketchup, I found it hard to get through them all as there wasn't much flavour. The pieces were inconsistent in size and I think that's why some were better than others. I am not a very picky eater, but when I order something basic, I do so because I know it will be good as it's familiar, so I was disappointed. Great restaurant environment, prices were good (paid $8.40) and service was good...however food isn't having me...

I guess, based on the reviews, the ratings depends on what is ordered. My overall experience is AVERAGE. Food quality and service. It’s my very first experience here (Eggsmart) and I do a lot of breakfast/brunch dining out. FEEDBACK : Waitress/server for my table appears new, or don’t care. Other waitress seems more experienced. I waited a while to order because she wasn’t checking in. Needs more experience in taking an order professionally and placing the food at the table. She also took my plate while I was still eating (fork in hand). $2.80 for a small cup of lukewarm water and a teabag. I really still believe it’s all about the tips for some servers. They also still expect a tip (entitlement), no matter what service they deliver. That’s annoying. My server was more task driven, than focusing on customer service/experience. I would probably go back if I’m really hungry and in the area but not my “go to” breakfast place...
