Great sushi but get there before 6:30pm.. it gets very busy. Fortunately, I got there before the rush. I was shown how to order through a iPad application. It seemed pretty straightforward. However, I got carried away and ordered way way too much. As the place started to get very busy, my food started to slowly come out. By the time I received the remainder of my order, the place was packed. I was very satisfied with the freshness of each dish and its overall taste was excellent. However, when it came time to checkout and pay.. I used the App twice to notify my server, but she was very very busy fulfilling orders. Finally, I had to catch her eye and give a hand gesture that I was ready to pay. After that, things went smoothly..in the end, the choice to eat there was great but the service gets slow when it gets busy. The pictures tell the story.. you won’t be disappointed!!

Normally, I limit myself to positive reviews only as experiences are subjective and YMMV. However, I feel like I must warn about choosing the "à la carte" option for dimsum. I'll spare you the details about how we ended up at an all-you-can-eat restaurant and asked for the "à la carte" menu. It was accidental and switching restaurant was not an easy option. The dimsum items were priced at the market price of $6.50 each, which is acceptable. However, to our biggest disappointment, each item was half the size of what would be expected based on the industry standard. They were reduced sizes for the purpose of all-you-can-eat. We felt short-changed. I don't mind paying the full price, but I expect a full size. It may be hard to see from my pictures, but you can see the dumplings (har gao for example) are not of a standard shape, because it would be a technical challenge to half the size and keep it the standard shape. As a result, they flattened the dumpling. The shu-mai feels like there's too much room in the basket. The BBQ pork buns were one-biters. The ordering system from a tablet (if I recall correctly, it was an iPad) was also a terrible user experience. The response time was slow and the app was not user friendly. On the positive side, the sushi rolls were reasonable at $14 each, considering today's pricing. The rice and noodle dishes were decently priced also. My biggest complaint is really about the dimsum items. If you are into quantity over quality, this place would be a good choice. If you order à la carte, just don't order dimsum items. I give it a 3-star rating because you can get good value for the all-you-can-eat, but I'm sharing a negative experience for feeling short-changed.

Get to play the waiting game to see if I get food poisoning! Went here with 3 other people tonight for AYCE (September 8 2024). A bunch of the items we ordered weren’t brought out the entire time we were there, over 20 minutes of waiting with no food or service. About 15 minutes after we received our reordered rolls that did not originally arrive we followed up on the fried rice we ordered (just to avoid accidentally placing 2 orders). It came out about 10 minutes later. I am not a fan of chicken, so I picked through the bowl to start removing pieces while eating. It was their August 8 special fried rice with crab/shrimp/chicken. The first few pieces of chicken looked okay, I had a couple bites of rice. Then I noticed one piece looked off. I asked my boyfriend & friend who also confirmed it looked raw. I then picked out every piece to find the majority were seared on 1 side, completely raw on the other. The main server was extremely apologetic. I did a shot of vodka in the hopes that it would help curb food poisoning (shoutout to the journal of epidemiology but I don’t have high hopes for this) My meal was comped out of 4. We split the bill (2 on 1 bill, 2 on the other). My drink was not comped (lemonade). They didn’t even ask if my partner had any to eat, or anyone else at the table. I don’t even know what to expect in this situation. I was pretty flustered in the restaurant because I’m already anxious about eating chicken, just for my worst food fear to become a reality. Guess I’ll see how sick I end up.

We first tried the AYCE at August 8 Brampton location and loved it. This time we wanted to try a different location and hence chose this one. Sadly this place fell way below per standard. We reached on a Friday afternoon, one adult, 4 older kids and one child at 3:15pm. We were told dinner starts in 15 minutes so we will have to pay for dinner, which we agreed. We started ordering food. Things came in bits and pieces. I understand that is how it is supposed to be but half of the stuff we had to order a second time to get it coz it was lost somewhere on the way. Desserts were old. There was no one to collect empty plates or provide napkins or for cleanup. In the end, we were also charged a 15% service charge because we were a group of six, even though they were all kids and one was actually much younger than 10. I don't mind paying the service charge but with this substandard food and service, and then a forced charge for it is absolutely unfair. I can't imagine what happens when the place is actually busy on weekend nights, when on a slow Friday afternoon there was no one to attend. Disappointed!

I used to be quite fond of this place, as I had never had a bad experience with the food or service in the past. With that being said, there were *edamame worms* inside the edamame. When we pointed this out to our server, she took it away and said she’d speak to the kitchen manager. We ate the remaining food from our original order but didn’t get anything after that, opting to leave since we felt pretty grossed out but didn’t want to make our trip worth nothing. When the server came around with our bill, this time a man, he pointed to the bottom of the receipt, where there was a “promotional discount” of 4 dollars for the “inconvenience”. 4 dollars off for *edamame worms*. I see no point in causing a big fuzz while others patreons and families are enjoying their dinner, however I will never set foot into any chain of August 8 ever again, and neither will those who used to accompany me on dining trips prior to this experience.

Deda's exceptional service at August 8 transformed my dining experience into a memorable occasion. From her warm welcome to her attentive recommendations and accommodating demeanor, Deda's hospitality was truly remarkable. Her respectfulness, and customer-oriented approach ensured my time at the restaurant really enjoyable. Deda remained professional and dedicated, making me feel valued as a guest. She would regularly come around my table to check if I have any questions or needs. I love their torched sushi. I highly recommend visiting August 8 to experience Deda is undoubtedly an asset to the establishment.
