Float Penticton — Local services in Penticton

We booked the 2 person VIP double tube experience for 2 couples. the driver picked us up on time delivered us to the starting point & inflated our tubes, and gave us instructions for the float. The problem was we only got half the experience for the full price - no discount. We were notified by text the morning of the booking that they would only be offering their services to the halfway point as the channel was flowing too slow for the 2nd half. They said it would be about a 1 hr. & 15 min. Trip. It was only 45 min. for $50. In questioning the driver she eventually said that if we had booked for a morning pick up we could have maybe done the full trip, but that was not disclosed on the website. In texting with the owner later he said if the float is going to take more than 2 hrs. they only offer their services to the halfway point, even though the website says it's a 2-4 hr. Experience. Since this was booked in Sep. It seemed like they were maybe nearing the end of the season & just didn't want to wait for groups to do the full trip. Not sure how the channel could suddenly slow down at the halfway point making the last half 4 hrs. compared to 45 min. which is what they were claiming. Beware of Float Penticton – I have no doubt that Nick will try to spin this review after I post it but I am writing it anyway. In Sept 2022 our group wanted to do the full float experience and booked it ahead of time online. A few hours prior to our pick up time Nick text me stating that the river is slow today and it will take too long so he is only able to do half the trip – if we don’t want this then cancel. He said it would be at least an hour and half float so we went with the shorter float. We paid $50/couple for what ended up only being a 45 minute float. We did everything in our power to extend the float by staying on the edges and even stopping the float at one point but it was still only 45 minutes. Nicks response when we came up from the water was “well things like this happen”. He was not accommodating or understanding in this situation and continued to make up reasons for the quick and expensive trip even though when I booked the trip his website stated duration was 2 – 5 hours. I am sure many float experiences are great but if it doesn’t work for his time Nick will find a reason at the last minute to make changes. My friends and I were very unimpressed with the attitude and service provided by Float Penticton. I received a phone call that we were going to be picked up by a black van, when we got to the road there were multiple black vehicles parked on the street. The couple running the tour that day were in a black van with no identifiable logos, etc. They hopped out of the van without saying a word to us, and then woman started blowing up the floatation device while the man stood around with a frustrated expression on his face. When I called again to confirm who we were meeting, and approached to confirm that they were the people we were waiting for, the man was very disgruntled and rude, claiming to be the only black vehicle around (false) and being frustrated by the repeated phone calls. The lack of communication was very frustrating especially considering total we were paying $113 for party raft and “VIP Shuttle” services for 4 people. When we were picked up at the end of the river the couple were waiting, and dropped us off not back at the hotel like we had requested, but at the side of the road where we had been originally picked up at.
