Where to begin....while an attempt has been made to renovate, the level of service and professionalism was shocking. Stay away, this place does not deserve your hard earned money! At $600 a night for the "VIP" room we were left with 1 room key, dirty coffee maker, hidden wifi codes, faulty light and power switches, dirty windows that would not open, just enough toilet paper to get you out of trouble, and a "manager" with an entitled attitude and a clear substance abuse issue. To top it off we had the pleasure of staff and management drinking outside our window until 11 p.m. Tortured by "resort" music aggressively playing along for the entirety of the party we finally made the call to the "manager" (who herself appeared to be hosting the event). At 10 pm we asked politely for the music to be turned downed. Shortly after the call an individual came knocking on the door and immediately blurted out that the music is "resort" music and would be on untill 11 pm. She appeared to have been drinking and did not identify herself until my partner questioned who she was. We asked to see the "manager" who came to the room briefly after. She was quite obviously under the influence of alcohol at the very least, had a glowstick necklace on and could barely stand in one spot. We asked her to please turn down the music and she cut us off and citied noise bylaws said she could have music until 11. The next day I went to go check to see if we could get a second key as we had family with us and we had only been provided with one. The manager was so hungover she was of no assistance, saying it wasn't her fault the lock Smith wasn't open. Shocking. Disappointing. I can't understand how someone in a position such as hers could be so disdainful towards customers particularly when they were being obviously overcharged. She is an amateur inn keeper and even worse role model for her young staff. Dont be fooled by bright paint in the pictures, no amount of sloppy paint jobs and tacky nick nacks can make up for the level of unprofessionalism provided by your one Bonilynn. You can put lipstick on a pig but its still a one star dive...
Read moreI just returned from a week long vacation in Penticton and cannot say enough great things about my stay. We arrived a little before check in and were informed our room was ready and we could check in early. The check in was prompt and easy and there were no surprise fees or unexpected costs with our stay. Our room was spacious and we were delighted with the kitchen size/cutlery etc included. The space was clean and newly renovated with great beachy colours. The ac worked well and was much needed in the 35+ weather daily. The location cannot be beat (literally across the street from the beach and so close to the water obstacle course). There are awesome "community" spaces setup with chairs and BBQs for guests, and while there were ash trays here, I didn't even notice. The other guests who smoked were courteous and did so away from myself and my son if we were up there enjoying the view or cooking. I didn't notice any issues with smoke smell at all on the property, including the rooms (and I'm quite sensitive to it). The staff were really what made the stay though. Every staff member was friendly, approachable, kind, and went out of their way to ensure we had what we needed, from an extra towel to refilling the coffee or fruit when we walked in if it was low. Doug was especially fabulous. He took time to make sure we were happy and taken care of, and always went above and beyond (he offered to bring me a coffee while I fed my son at the crack of dawn every morning!) I just loved how much pride he takes in his resort, up before the office opened each morning preparing coffee and breakfast, sweeping the streets and sidewalk from garbage, watering the plants to keep them alive and welcoming, and even putting his own dinner on hold to take care of us. If you have a chance to stay somewhere in Penticton, absolutely book here. This is my new...
Read moreSo we booked this motel through a website for the weekend, we showed up about 3 hours before check in. We had parked our cars in the motel parking lot and went to the office to see if it was okay to park there while we went for lunch. The office said closed back at 1pm. We left signs on our cars saying we were guests with our cell number in case there was an issue.
We left the premises by foot and ended up going back to the cars as we wanted to get some stuff out of them......
The owner pulled up in his red truck and was instantly rude. Telling us to get out of there etc. We tried to explain that we were paying guests we didn't expect early check in but was it okay to park there. If he had politely told us it was against their policy we would have gladly gone with our cars and come back at 3pm check in. ( the parking lot was not full) Instead he just basically told us to get lost and was so extremely rude we were in shock. He then started backing up in his truck and was soo engrossed in yelling at us that he backed his truck in to a woman on a bicycle. Thankfully the woman was not hurt but her bike got mangled.
We left the motel right away as it was such a horrible experience. We called the website we booked through and after the website calling the motel a few times. They agreed we did not have to pay a fee for cancelling to booking the day of.
Unfortunately the motel is on prime real estate right across from the beach. So management has zero regard for customer service as the area is busy in the summer months.
We stayed at the Spanish Villa and The Tiki Shores instead ( we needed a few rooms).
Do not stay at the Rochester. The customer service is disgusting. Thankfully we did not have to endure the whole weekend in this mans motel. I could only imagine how uncomfortable he would have made our...
