BED BUGS BEWARE! We knew the vibes were off the second we opened the door to the room. Dusty surfaces, slapdash paint job all over, and mouldy smell.
Upon checking the mattress we immediately identified signs of bedbugs and with no effort at all found live bugs in the bed (pics/video attached).
After reporting to the person at the front desk that we found bed bugs they just offered us another room without even flinching (not an uncommon report I’m guessing).
After checking the other room we found giant spider webs all over the dining table, and more evidence of bed bugs in the bed.
We went back to the person on the front desk, and only when I said that we couldn’t stay here and that we wanted a refund did they get up and actually check on the rooms.
After we showed them the issues with the rooms and again asked for a refund they declined and said they couldn’t give us a refund until the manager would be in the next day (so they’re operating without any management).
They also refused to provide us any evidence of our complaint, or proof that we would not be using the room that night, or even offer to let us speak to a manager on the phone.
The next day we called to speak with the manager and the same person said the manager hadn’t come in and we still couldn’t get a refund.
We also noted that the outside of the motel looked quite run down and the area around was pretty sketchy.
In the end we got a room at the HI Penticton (no bedbugs) and had to do a credit card chargeback on the Riverside Motel. Do not stay here unless you want to have a terrible time and bring bedbugs...
Read moreWe were disappointed by the end of our stay by the choices this business made, we let a few small things slide but accumulated an awful experience by the end. Overall the room and amenities were acceptable, it was their action or lack thereof.
When we arrived the electrical cords behind the TV were melting against the radiator to the point where the wires became exposed and sparked several times. We were worried the loveseat would catch fire. We immediately reported it to the office and they didn't seem to think it was a problem that the cords were in a tangle next to the heat. They didn't clip the cords together and attach them to the wall away from the heater to prevent it from happening again.
It's obvious this motel is fighting a mouse problem and unfortunately were employing inhumane glue traps to catch them in the kitchen cupboards and behind the appliances. We had the unfortunate discovery of a live one suffering in a trap, and the smell/disposal was awful to be left with. They were also using some kind of attractant that was meant to be a fishy smell and this was not pleasant when staying in the space with closed windows, let alone breathing in the fumes was probably toxic.

Unfortunately it has changed hands and has slid downhill considerably||In the months leading up to arriving we called several times to confirm our reservation. This included the day of arriving but I was blown off being told “ya ya reservation here” even though they didn’t even take the time to look at my reservation on their system. We arrived to find our reservation had been cancelled and certainly not buy us||We were shoehorned into a room displacing some folks who hadn’t arrived yet and were told that we wouldn’t have to move rooms. however the very next day the owner came by after we were settled and told us we would have to move rooms||The guests in the room above us stomped around like elephants and when I brought up the situation with the front desk because I had no access to knock on the door of the room upstairs I simply got blown off again being told “ Ya ya they go to bed soon.” No help. ||In previous stays we enjoyed our time here - not anymore.
