Greco's Fresh Markets - Oak Ridges Food Market — Local services in Richmond Hill

I have been shopping at Oak Ridges Market for many years now. Their recent renovation made a great little market even better. This store is full of excellent quality fresh produce, butcher shop quality meats, delicious prepared foods and soups, a nice little bakery with excellent deserts and breads, a great deli, an excellent selection of pasta sauce, pasta and many other items you find in a larger grocery store.

The most important and best part of this store is their staff. Many of the staff members have been here for many years and they treat customers like friends. Even the newer staff members are professional, helpful and friendly.

I was in last week to have cold cuts sliced, my family likes them sliced as thin as possible (This is an insurmountable task at all the chain grocery stores) and had a young man named Chris slice my order. He did an amazing job, they were perfectly sliced. This is an art which few deli counter staff care to learn and this young man has mastered it!

I almost forgot to mention the floral section of the store; there is always a beautiful selection of both cut and potted flowers at the front of the shop. In the summer months, there is a lovely outdoor garden centre with large summer planters for sale. The planter options are changed as the seasons change and they even have an excellent selection of planters created for winter.

Greco’s Fresh Markets is hands down one of the best places for fresh, high-quality food. Beware of expired goods/goods past their best before dates!

Purchased an item that was a month past its best before date. Went to the store (albeit 3 weeks later) and pointed out to the cashier the goods were expired. Checks with manager and says it has been "too long" since purchase. I pointed out the product was already expired by a month at the time of my purchase, so it shouldn't have been on the shelf and is irrelevant when I bring it back.

Eventually got a replacement product, but not before I got a lot of sass from the cashier and the manager. Tried pointing out to the cashier there were still expired products on the shelf and got a "I'm just the cashier" along with "nobody really does this".

The purpose of my visit was to make the store aware of the product expiry and hopefully rectify the matter so it didn't happen to anyone else. For the record, I found a similar product that was also expired on the shelf at the time of my visit that was still on the shelf...

Taking an expired product back into the store shouldn't be so dramatic and so much effort.
