Update: "There is no basis for this comment" yes gaslight me and diminish my experience that was real and my personal experience. If you can't take criticism and admit that your staff that day wasn't properly trained and that the place needs a revamp this is really unprofessional of you and a uncalled response from you. I'm all about supporting companies who have great visions and are women of minorities owners because I support your community and women entrepreneurs, and I love enterprises who have agency and good values. It's exactly why I chose to come here with my friend. If I say my experience was bad, the last thing you want to do is gaslight your client and give such immature reaction plastered by somptupus words to cover up your anger. May you learn to accept that running a company requires both good and bad experiences and that unfortunately, the time I went, it was terrible. You did not offer to come back or revisit, instead you are telling people I'm a liar. This is a zero from me now. Ego doesn't drive a business well. Regardless of the poor attitude, I wish you the best growth. Honestly, what a subpar experience. I'm actually surprised by my the amount of positive reviews. The staff were not caring, absent-minded and clearly didn't know how to service their clients. I've witnessed them not giving instructions, not checking on clients and even giving the wrong items for the package they paid for. The staff seems barely knowledgable of their own workshop, it looked embarassing to watch people correct them on the items they were supposed to make as per the package they chose. One pair of clients were given candle making only to find out that they signed up for the spa package, another set of people came in and were given jewelry making by a staff member only to be corrected that they paid to make resin items. This is poor management and a lack of professionalism on their end.
I paid for the spa package for me and my friend and we weren't even given what was on the description, it said the last item on the website of our package, included a choice of bath bomb or body cream and we weren't given either, instead we had to make bath salts?
The lady who was assisting the group seemed like someone who didn't want to be there, she barely spoke and left us to ourselves to wait around for her or figure things out ourselves constantly. She was not communicative and never checked on people or follow up, she would hand items and give the quantities to pour and that was it. A little charisma and smile could go a long way but instead if felt like we were talking to a wall. We actually helped others figure out what was their next step because once again, there were no clear instructions and the fact that we had to share items with other people made the whole experience feel so cheap, why not make a set of materials for each group. Terrible experience, not enough fragrance to choose from, disorganized and poorly sanitized space. This place's not worth your time nor the price, don't go, you're better off buying...
Read moreWorst customer service Iâve ever experienced. I had emailed them twice regarding booking a time to participate in a soap class with a friend of mine who was interested in learning how to make soap since she wanted to start her own soap business. I wanted to use the Groupon deal that they had offered and wanted to attend a class on Sunday since I usually have school the rest of the week. For one of the emails I had sent a month in advance I received no response. On the second email, I received a very cold reply from someone named Catherine explaining she couldnât help me. When I called them, Catherine said that she would be unable to offer any of her services to my friend and I since their purpose was not to help young people start a small business, rather to partake in an activity. I was not in fact, asking for advice or guidance on how to start a business, rather, I just wanted her to teach my friend and I how to make soap. She had the nerve to tell me she was taking a class regarding equity studies and how thereâs an expectation for small businesses to give back to their community. She told me how she found this unfair and even asserted how she wouldnât be able to provide us services since she would be cutting into her âfamily timeâ and in addition wouldnât be able to offer the Groupon deal since they do not make any money by offering it. She even told me that we should seek the help of a corporation to teach us to make soap. What does that mean? Throughout it all, she didnât even let me speak - she just rambled on of how I was inconveniencing her. This business really needs to learn how to treat potential customers, and if the Groupon deal is not making them money, then not offer it to...
Read more"Let's Make It" gives back to the community by working with / hiring individuals with barriers to employment and the workshop seeks to educate you about soap (particularly sodium lauryl sulfate or "SLS") before you actually get into making it.
Admittedly, the place is a little shabby looking, like you're stepping into someone's barren kitchen. However, it doesn't affect the experience. With the Groupon, we made the following:
-- 2 x Soap -- 2 x Bath bombs -- 1 x Body scrub in a mason jar -- 1 x Lip balm
I was surprised by how much we got for our money and because it's on Groupon, it's an even greater deal if you can grab the coupon during a sale. (We did have to pay the owner tax on the Groupon in person, which I didn't expect, but was happy to given the great experience we had.)
With the soap-making groupon, it isn't making soap from scratch the way I thought it would be, but it was fun nonetheless. You get to add colours, scents (essential or fragrance oils), and embellishments (lavender or flower petals), and melted soap is poured into a mold with all of these things together. You aren't involved in making the melted soap mixture. The same applies to the lip balm: a melted mixture is poured into a mold with your choice of scents. The bath bombs and body scrub are more involved. You mix the ingredients yourself before adding the essential oils.
It was a fun activity to do with friends and family. I'd definitely...
