I used to come here in it's previous incarnation to get the currant squares. Steveston's Best of British is just as charming. Mostly food with a few sundry items. The jam selection is wonderful with some I have not seen anywhere else. The M&S (Marks and Spencer) Sicilian Lemon Curd looked great with just minimal ingredients, but there are a number of different curds. Next there is a freezer with many packaged meats and sausages. A while back I got some black pudding to make a 'Full English' breakfast. Then there are a lot of spreads and sauces (my favourite is the Heinz Salad Cream). A small fridge has sweet pies and those wonderful currant squares. Sweet and sour with a crispy crust topped with sugar. The display case was pretty bare as it was the end of the day but call ahead to make sure they have what you want. The display of Cadbury chocolate is big. The fridge with drinks also has some surprises. They usually have a small area with discounted items. All through the middle of the store are various cookies/candy/chocolate. I bought Wilkin and Sons Ltd Marmalade. You can see in the pics the pieces of peel. It was so good and reminded me of when I was in the UK as the packaging is so iconic. I also bought Cawston Press Ginger Beer made with apple cider and ginger. It was really tasty with a chili kick! They also have Schweppes Bitter Lemon which is hard to find. Great on it's own or in cocktails. So if it is for you or a gift or just nostalgic, I am sure you will find...
