A Week of Bliss for Seattleites in Richmond

A Week of Bliss for Seattleites in Richmond

We came here for afternoon tea after lunch with friends, since the other three places we tried were fully booked. Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience from start to finish. The rose tea looked nice in photos, but that’s about all it had going for it — it was essentially just water with a single rosebud in it, with almost no rose flavor at all. The menu was completely misleading. I would not recommend this drink unless you're only ordering it for the aesthetic. The other two drinks we ordered were also below average. The cake selection was very limited, and the dessert we did try was just as bad — maybe even worse — than the tea. They didn’t have the mille crepe cake we were hoping for, so thankfully we only ordered one dessert. The place was packed, especially near the entrance, where the layout was chaotic. There were people waiting for tables, lining up to pay, browsing bread, and queuing for cake — all crammed into the same area. The environment was loud, messy, and confusing. It was also extremely difficult to get service. No one came to take our order, and there was no staff around when we needed help. There was essentially no service at all. The staff we did see looked very nervous and overwhelmed, clearly struggling to keep up with the crowd.

Heard about the crepe cakes and was curious as to what could possibly make a slice of cake worth ~$12. BOYYYYY I was overwhelmed, this is the most amazing crepe cake I've ever had. You can seriously feel and see the amount of effort they put into making these cakes, the cream between each layer feels perfect and with each bite you slice off you can legitimately feel how delicate the process is. This goes for their matcha and earl grey flavour crepe cakes, the staff was very quick to be friendly and helpful with advice on which one is more popular. Also got a slice of their double cream cheese cake (about $7-8) and yeah okay... That's a perfect cheesecake. The crust isn't soggy or stale and has a great crisp texture while being firm yet melt-in-your-mouth style at the same time, the NY cheesecake is perfectly balanced in acidity, and the cream isn't too sweet (personally I like sweeter cream but that's not to knock on their cream, I couldn't stop once I started) Yeah I'll come here again and for anyone looking for cake as a gift, this is the place to be.

Wow some of these reviews are bad.

I've heard very good things about this shop, however online many of the reviews seem to be people werent able to try the cakes based on the limited availability or maybe because this is a cake shop run by a baker. When I got there noone flipped the closed sign so we stood outside wondering if it was open or closed. Eventually someone came to flip the sign and invited us in.

This was my first time here. We arrived about 1pm and noticed most of the cakes were still in stock but there was just 1 roll left.

We tried creme Brulee and fresh strawberry and felt they were light, slightly sweet and airy. These would make a great gift for someone who fancied layered cakes. $8.50/ea

They are definitely higher priced than other cake shops and there is limited seating in store. When I was there all of the tables were reserved and was advised to reserve at least a day ahead.

I believe the baker packed our cakes to go and she was very nice and polite. I found out her business started on Wechat and her popularity drove her to open a store.

tip If you do want to come here reserve your cake early and your seat to avoid...

Our experience is very frustrating!!! I ordered a cake in advanced for Mother's Day celebration about (3 days) because I understand that they need ample time in making cake. We were suppose to pick it up today at 1pm as discussed when I ordered Thursday afternoon then something came up today, so I phoned if we could pick it up around 2 or so. Good thing I phoned them, as the lady who answered were saying they missed my order and she will call me after 5 mins to double check on that. Five minutes later, the lady phoned and saying if we could pick it up around 4pm. Ok, as I don't want to feel bad because its Mother's Day and I also want to understand them maybe because they are busy?! We came all the way from Surrey and drove 30 plus minutes for that cake. We actually arrived late around 4:20 the lady at front saying that my number was not on the list, she checked it multiple times and after doing so she said we need to wait for another 15mins. Overall, cake was amazing but they need to be a little more organize in dealing with orders. The lady were not...
