I was very disheartened with the service at Savoy's Jewellers today. I went in to help a friend who brought his watch to Savoy's where it was purchased as a gift from a loved one who recently passed away. He thought the battery was dead but the associate tried a battery and thought that it required a repair of the mechanism of the watch. The associate did not ask when the product was purchased or check for warranty and instead charged 120.00 and sent the watch to their repair person, the watch was gone for a month. The ticket stated overhaul and refurbish watch. The customer understood that this would be an actual overhaul of the watch as was written on the ticket including cleaning of the watch, repair of scratches on the glass, and a broken pin replacement. When the watch was picked up, the pin was not repaired and it did not look like it was even cleaned and when digging deeper the manager found out in fact the watch was under FULL warranty for the mechanical repair (the only servicing the watch actually got) and unfortunately, now due to Savoys not checking where the repair should have been directed, the Bulova warranty is now invalid because Savoys sent it to an independent repair person. They blamed the customer for wearing the watch daily when it is a "dress watch", well the client wears it as a memory of his deceased brother who died of ALS and gave it as a gift and even had it engraved as such. At first, they refused to do anything at all but before I knew about the fact that the watch was fully warrantied, they offered to give a compassionate refund of 40.00 and fix the pin. I was willing to accept that before the sales manager divulged that the watch was under full warranty and now that warranty is no good because they sent it independently. They blamed the customer, accepted no responsibility nor even expressed any compassion in the situation. I was told to not ask for a full refund and to "take the 40 bucks get out of here and never come back." Then they proceeded to call mall security on me. I have never in my life had security called on me for any reason. I did not raise my voice, I did not use any offensive language and only requested a fair resolution. I checked with other local merchants and was told a full refund should be given no questions asked. If you are looking to make a major jewellery purchase especially for a special moment in your life, I would highly recommend you do not purchase it from Savoys. The customer definitely is not always right in their store and in fact the customer...
Read moreMy wedding band is from here and I love it. Was hard to find a band that matched my engagement ring perfectly and I was happy at the time to support local. However, I am sad to say that when getting it re sized (from 7 to a 5.5) it is quite thin at the bottom of the band compared to the rest of the band. Not a deal breaker to some but I was hoping to have engraving done on my wedding band which unfortunately I am unable to do now unless I add more gold to the bottom. I always thought when getting rings sized the mm of band width will remain the same, not a thinner band on the bottom, but I guess it depends where you go. My husband picked up the band and it wasnât until I tried it on at home with my engagement ring that I realized the difference in band width. When I called the store to discuss, they said they keep the extra gold, it doesnât go back on the band. So, if youâre looking to get a precious sentiment of jewellery resized here know that it wonât be uniform and will likely return with thinning at the bottom of the band. It is unfortunate as I had wanted to get my ring engraved and for the ring itself to match the band size of my engagement ring as originally purchased. If I want to get gold added to my ring now to make the bottom of the band the same as when I originally bought it and continue with my plans to get it engraved, I have to pay to replace the gold. Funny...
Read moreWhere to begin? Small town, friendly atmosphere with massive selection and favorable pricing. We have NEVER left savoys disappointed and have exclusively purchased our jewelry with them (gifts for others, watches for each other, EVERY piece of jewelry worn at our wedding, and every pair of Swarovski earrings I have ever âneededâ) for 18 years. While Iâm confident our investments with them pale in comparison to othersâ I have always felt welcomed, happy with options, accommodated when necessary and valued as a customer (this coming from a bride and groom who chose their wedding bands and had them sized two days before our wedding and who lives 80km from either location and have managed to âshopâ remotely on more than one occasion). Nick is always exceptional, professional and welcoming and most recently Nicole went above and beyond to patiently and remotely, offer her professional and confident opinion on a specific gift I needed for my husband. I always appreciate and take advantage of a complimentary ring cleaning when I am near the Station Mall (whether I am shopping specifically at savoys or not). Thanks to Nick and his staff for making shopping for such sentimental, special items such an elevated experience in terms of quality jewelry and especially...
