I had my first blood donation experience at Canadian Blood Services on College, and I have to say, it was a lot smoother and more comfortable than I expected. I was a bit nervous at first, but Terry and Agnes were incredibly kind and supportive, helping me conquer my fear every step of the way. Their reassurance and professionalism made a huge difference, and I felt well taken care of throughout the process.
When you arrive, you first check in at the front desk, where the staff is friendly and efficient. After that, there’s a short interview to go over your health history, followed by a quick blood check to make sure you’re eligible to donate. Once everything is good to go, you proceed with the donation itself, which was much easier than I thought it would be. The staff is very attentive and constantly checks in to ensure you’re feeling okay.
One thing I really appreciated was the complimentary snacks and drinks they offer both before and after the donation. It’s a nice touch that makes the experience even more comfortable, giving you a chance to rest and replenish before heading out. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I’d definitely encourage anyone thinking about donating to give it a try. The team at this location does a fantastic job of making sure donors feel safe...
Read moreThe place is begging for donations as it should do. I brought myself and 2 new donors who do not speak English. We could not have booking on the phone, first, because the booking people could not be that thorough to accommodate new 2 names because the 2 spots available are hours apart. It was too difficult to work hard to digest NEW 2 DONORS who wish to donate blood. When we could book those hours apart appointments the rejection came because these 2 donors do not speak English. CBS can not accommodate these 2 donors language wise even if a family member is there to translate to them any needed document or procedure, the CBS can not arrange for a translator even with their high budget (CEO salary reaches almost 825000 annually), CBS can not allow a licensed volunteer translator to help donors who are in a group that is less than 20 donors, CBS won't allow a technician who is working in the very same donation centre to translate for these 2 new donors. Eventually, the 2 donors stated that they were stupid for wasting their own time for such a...
Read moreI went with my boyfriend to the Blood Clinic at Hearland Centre in Mississauga last evening - this is his third visit - he had an incident the first time where he passed out momentarily and had to sit on a stretcher so I always go with him. I observed while I was sitting there that the chairs they sit in never get wiped down between patients and their head is touching the top of the chair. I asked one of the attendants why they don't use the paper sheets similar to a doctor's examination room and she said that we have healthy patients we screen them very good and we wipe them down at night. She told me it was a good observation. Just wondered what your answer was on this subject. Not every washes their hair every day or changes their clothes - and I do not notice many bottles of cleaning hand sanitizer around -...
