The management (mgmt) hand grips policies. Mgmt is cooperative now, not selfish, indeed improvement is sighted. Visitors, families allow in after 8 AM to 8 PM. Young Male PSW likes to bath female elderly, watch and inform them if your loved ones dislikes male PSW to bath them. It's the resident's rights to reject male PSW. Watch out for Religious sensitive issues, too. Beware of Dog Therapy, fur allergy.
Nurse removes things away from resident without informing family members until ask for disappeared items when noticed. They return it, though, yet nasty exercising their own written policies. Isn't it a harsh administration or policing beyond the scope of Ontario Long-term Care bypassing our Ministry of LT Care rule of laws? Think about it for legal counseling if it's your predicament. Folks, rooms condition are nice, TVs programs on YouTube, free Wi-Fi, and events at reasonable or conservative level.
Mask required though twice a year outbreaks are over. No isolation room here. Need to sign in/out, mandatory. Allow to use resident's washroom. Pro; room temperature & clean, Con; humidity level bad, Volunteer Staff disrespectful and verbose misrepresenting the mgmt..
Kudos for Cleaners who put up "Danger" sign/cart while mopping the floor. Not sure if City owned LT Care home? Daily meal menus & event schedule, staff name/photo on duty are clearly posted on all units. Milk/soya bean dipped into hot water to heat up smelled contaminated carton. Persistent refusal to upgrade by boiling in a pot/pan due to no family members complain. It's your call for change now.
List of doctors, dietitians, Chief/nursing manager, Physiotherapists, and important managing staff for each floor/unit not posted at the main hall. Is the practice of transparency being deviated for reasons of mgmt. coverups? Watch out for timing inconsistencies of residents' medications by newly hired RNs/PRNs and disrespectful Filipino PSWs who work solo.
Allow 40 socks, 50 clothes only. Hence, your loved ones remains a monotonous life style. Hey! your loved ones under MSHFA control and defiant care. Bring in your own blanket, they don't provide one, but advise to use own preferably for acceptable sanitary reasons. Morning toothpaste/toothbrush provided, but not facial cleanser. Mostly speaks Cantonese, Mandarin and English. Think about it before relocating your loved ones here.
The beauty of residing here is all day Chinese food, nice tea, soup, and other Chinese prepared snacks. Isn't it awesome ?
Looking forward of a more diversified Long-term Care environment. Presently, majority are Chinese residents, but staff are multi-racial, a sign of diversification in progress. Should we suspect favoritism prevails? Perhaps, it's a good practice the city steps in to diversify MSHFA similar to moving the homeless and poor into the rich neighborhood, so the less fortunate won't be segregated or discriminated.
Int'l Taoist TaiChi Society https://www.taoisttaichi.org donated over 30 beds. Where are the Red Cross and Church donors. How about your donation?
Beware the lazy PSWs that were hired over 10 years ago might have become bureaucrats and kept your loved ones naked and cold in the shower room while waiting for the on-duty PSW to provide their bath. Diss! Basic footcare excluded cleaning dirt formed in the nails, causing germs/fungus. Residents' exercises are not conducted in multilingual or bilingual.
Look at the pitiful MSHFA cofounder bust hiding at the corner of the wall adjacent to the elevator. Should Dr. Liu be placed at the main entrance ?
The policy doesn't allow visitor in the room, but your friend will be moved to the main floor to meet with you. Also, I think there's a group actively recruiting and promoting Christianity. Mostly dementia residents attending this service without family's consent. When complain, MSHFA defense is Resident wants to go. Can a dementia person able to make decision? Is this a mental exploitation ???

Read moreMy dad is newly accepted to Mon Sheong Downtown location. This place is very cleaned and bright. Rooms are spacious on 2nd floor, it’s the Dementia secured units. Big shoutout to Jacky, nurses and home staffs over there who helped my dad’s settlement process smoothly. Very kind and full of caring staffs right here. My dad enjoys Chinese diets here in this home as well. Parking is an issues as the street parkings are always full. Underground parkings are staffs only so visitors have to find nearby parkings or public transits. On McCaul Street, there’s a private parking lot down there. Sign in and sign out process for entering or leaving the home are tight so make it...
