Was riding down Harbord Street and blew a tire; by fluke, right in front of this bike shop. Was about five minutes after closing but they fixed it anyway for me despite the fact. Ten minutes later I was back on my way. The staff here are super nonchalant, easy going, respectful, approachable and not at all brash or stuck up. They would never comment about anything to do with the bike you are riding or make any form of rude "you really should consider.... or should buy... or should do..." coment to you. The only suggestion they will make are on ways you can save some money and make a part last longer. Since that first visit I have been coming exclusively to this shop despite the distance from my home, and have even had them convert an old bike I had sitting in my garage for a decade into a brand new fixie (Over the top job and a very good price too) Very happy with these guys! Just one heads up, they are closed...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've walked by this shop countless times and finally visited today to get a flat fixed. Valentine has a clear passion, is a great listener and communicator, and is wildly creative to boot-the shop has many bespoke furniture pieces made from various bike parts, vintage bikes and boards.
I was greeted warmly and was offered a cup of coffee (delightful and delicious) while he finished up the repair in less than 20 mins. Half way through he came over to show and explain the likely cause of the flat and an additional repair the tire would need. At the end he explained a potential other cause for the flat and explained a simple way to prevent it from happening. The clear communication, delicious coffee, and chill discussion about vintage espresso machines was top notch. I'll happily come back to get anything sorted with my bike in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe good: Jeff and Val are cool and amazing people who go out of the way to help you out: they helped me build up my dream bike and also updated my clunky old commuter with better brakes! Turnaround times are quick and prices are very fair. Work is done a lot better compared to other shops with similar pricing.
The could-be-better: They are a relatively small shop which does mean they don't have a lot of higher-end parts and have to order them in. If you're a commuter and your bike is relatively ordinary though, they'll 100% get you sorted!
The ps: As with a lot of bike shops in Toronto they occasionally make minor mistakes when servicing (e.g. they installed a chainring the wrong way round, which is an easily amended fix), but compared to like a majority of others they are very...
