Visited Miracle last night with three of my friends, and we really enjoyed the festive decor and overall vibe. The ambiance was perfect for the season!
Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by an issue with our server, Monroe C.
At first, Monroe was attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. However, towards the end of our visit, things took an uncomfortable turn. I jokingly asked if we could stay past the 75-minute time limit, raising my voice slightly due to the loud atmosphere. Monroe responded by saying, โYouโre making me anxious, Iโm feeling very anxious.โ I immediately apologized and asked why she felt that way, but instead of addressing the situation, she walked away and never returned to our table.
This was an embarrassing moment, especially in front of my friends, as it could have been handled more professionally and privately. Iโm unsure why she reacted the way she did, but the environment was indeed loud and bustling. If she finds such interactions overwhelming, this may not be the best setting for her to work in.
This was my second visit to Miracle, and Iโve usually had great experiences. I hope management can address this incident, as it reflects poorly on customer service and could affect future visits.
Reply to manager: Dec 11 - How Monroe felt unsafe with a non-threatening joke goes beyond me. I think there are some deep rooted issues here and I encourage her to look within.
Just because she felt the way she did, doesnโt reflect what actually happened. Is it possible that she perhaps overreacted? Is it possible that she took a joke the wrong way? I didnโt have to apologize because my intentions were pure and she took it the wrong way.
Given that you werenโt there to witness what actually happened, to fully side with Monroe because of her feelings is not the appropriate response.
Iโm speaking objectively and my friends can attest to this. I am a young girl who made a joke about staying past the time limit. No one was yelling. My voice was slightly loud but playful. How does this even make any sense?
I will take the refund. My family and friends wonโt be returning to Miracle. Your establishment represents whatโs wrong with society.
Feelings are not always reliable especially if the person is used to playing victim. Iโll always stand by truth.
Itโs tough out there Monroe, I would encourage you to look within because it was never about the joke or the...
ย ย ย Read moreWe got on the wait list and we were given a long 3+ hour wait. I understood because itโs a niche pop up, so we went to a restaurant nearby and had our dinner. We ended up getting a text and decided to head over. This is where things went sour. After waiting nearly 4 hours and then telling us to come to the place because โour table was readyโ they made us wait in ANOTHER line with a bunch of other people who got the same text. Itโs the most inefficient seating and reservation system Iโve ever experienced and honestly disrespectful to make people leave their warm cars, homes, and restaurants, after already waiting an insane amount of time, only to make them line up again in the cold. I complained to the doormen and they gave me a bunch of excuses. Iโm not so unreasonable that I donโt understand that tables need to be cleared and cleaned. But donโt waste peopleโs time and make them come out a second time in the freezing cold when you havenโt even wiped down the table. Iโm not asking for the moon here, Iโm asking for some respect for your clientele and accountability for your poor inefficient service.
The actual restaurant was nicely decorated and perfect for Instagram photos and all that, but our waiter was miserable and inattentive. Things got even worse when we left and one of the doormen asked for me to OPEN MY BAG. It was a Christmas gift my friend had just given me, so it wasnโt even open. And interestingly enough: only me and the other black member of our table were asked to open our bags. It is a joke that they though I wanted to steal one of their ugly Christmas mugs and pretty obviously racist that they went and asked me and my only other black friend to open our CHRISTMAS GIFTS for them. They did not ask my Filipino friend or Indian partner to open their bags.
The owners of this bar need to get real. This is supposed to be a bar, not Pearson airport. In summary: they wasted our time, the bar was mediocre, and they wanted to search our sealed Christmas gifts in case we stole cups or cutlery.
I would not recommend. Just hang Christmas lights in your house and get drunk with friends. You wonโt have to wait 40 days and 40 nights and you wonโt be subjected to any micro...
ย ย ย Read more(food was given 1 star as they do not serve food, HOWEVER, drinks were great) We decided to hit up Miracle on our 5 day trip to Toronto from out of province. The cons: the website will tell you that the bar functions on a walk in basis only. Perhaps we went on an abnormally busy Wednesday, but we were waitlisted for well over an hour. Leaving us on the street in not exactly an exciting part of Toronto refreshing our phones. So if you're going, make sure your phone battery is charged (and that you have data as your phone is the only way to get on the waitlist) and that you're dressed warm! As extreme as the wait time was, we were okay with it, the main issue came when we were going in and some girls were outside inquiring about the waitlist and flirting with the "bouncer" asking if there was spare space for another 2 people. Seems their flirting paid off as they came up the stairs behind us, and ahead of the 36 people behind us on the waitlist. Be aware, that as stated on their website, there is a $5 per person entry fee that is added to your bill at the end. The pros: the bar is beautiful and sure to get you in the festive spirit. The drinks are strong enough to warm you up from standing outside for the past hour (lol) and taste worth the hefty price tag they boast. It was everything hoped to get from a holiday themed bar as the whole place is plastered with lights and decorations, it's like stepping into the north pole. Even the waiters are dressed up, and for the most part friendly and attentive despite the bar being busy when we get there. We stayed towards closing and when it got quieter the waitresses service really shined โจ. Ultimately, if we lived closer I would definitely be going back. So, if you are close enough to take in this spectacle while it remains open for the holiday season, definitely go check it out!
Edited to state we were a party of two with numerous parties of two behind us on the waitlist. The ladies that got let in by the bouncer without waitlist were also a party of two. Miracle has made an Instagram post stating that wait time will vary depending on group size, however, this was not the case...
