The perfect rating for the Vaughan Mills location is due to a single employee, Lori (in skates). Long story short, she pegged my skate size VISUALLY which led me to exchange pair of inline skates and ice skates that had both been previously improperly sized... by 2 full sizes!
I had actually gone in for a somewhat related issue when she asked me to remove my shoe. When she said "5 and half, maybe 6" I immediately thought she was out of her mind and continued on to address the reason I was there in the first place. But as she continued to share her expertise I started to really appreciate that she really did know her stuff.
Back went my sz 8 inlines and sz 7.5 ice skates and we then explored 5.5 vs 6 but ultimately opted for the former.
Today I skated for the first time and the fit (on the ice, not just in the store) was bang on! Additionally, much of the varied leg, foot, and back pain I've been having for the past couple of months was no longer. And clockwise crossovers I'd been struggling with for years was better (though there's more practice needed there). The right skate size has IMMEDIATELY proven to alleviate discomfort and improve technique!!!
Oh, and her recommendation in stick selection for me (a former goalie from years back moving to player in my return to the game) was spot on as well.
Lori is an expert, pure and simple. And she's at the Vaughan Mills location of Pro Hockey Life, so it's my hockey store and she's...
Read moreThis was only my 2nd time in a hockey store this big
The staff was mostly made up of teens so I totally understand why things took a while to get done
The service was great for the most part. Skates were fit well after adding insoles to them and then baked for a few minutes
I also bought other gear with more helpful staff members they gave great advice on fitting shin guards and elbow pads
There's also a cool shooting gallery where you can test out hockey sticks. The stick felt great but at 300 CAD + Tax you need to spend wisely
If you're a hockey fan, beware because you WILL spend money here 😄
But if you are in serious need of replacing your old gear then it's a great place to purchase from
Try dropping by on weekdays because the staff said it's less hectic at those times
And based on my experience there are a TON of people on weekends
I do wish staff was a little more attentive though but I get that the chaos of the weekend can be overwhelming for these kids
Overall, I am elated with my experience at the storeI'm definitely going...

I wanted to buy a hockey jersey for my son for Christmas, checked on line at Pro Hockey Life and they had it in stock. Went to the store at Vaughan Mills location could not find it, asked for help, lady who works there went to check and disappeared for half an hour. I tried to find her and she was laughing with her co-workers. Ok... I ordered the jersey online, 5 days later no response that the item is shipped. I sent email to them - no response. Called the online store many times- no answer, left messages. Called the Vaughan Mills location they put me on hold for 25 min!! I called again and spoke with a store manager. And finally by the end of the 5th day of my order I've got an email from them that they don't have the jersey in stock. Alright, all the stores trying so hard before Christmas to deliver the orders very quickly. But it is not the case in this horrible...
