[SPRING 2024] Went here on a Monday afternoon with my dad to get some lunch. There are 5 rice dishes that have a discount from $17.5 to $13.5 at lunch from 12 pm to 3 pm each day which are the beef bulgogi with rice, tteokbokki (rice cake), kimchi fried rice, kimchi pork belly with rice, and boneless chicken with rice and you can choose a drink of your choice. We ordered the beef bulgogi rice and the boneless fried chicken rice and got two nestle ice teas. Originally, I wanted to order the japchae, but the japchae alone, without any meat and only veggies is already $18.5. If you want the angus beef, you have to add another $5 on top. Therefore, I substituted for the beef bulgogi rice which was on sale. The beef bulgogi really tasty and had good seasoning, along with stir fried white and green onions and carrots, which made the dish fulfilling. The boneless chicken was very crispy and good, too; however, the dish only contained chicken and rice. Thus it was lacking veggies. In the future, I would recommend that Nene Chicken include more veggies in all their rice dishes, or at least, have some veggie side dishes as well as a side of some soup to complement the main dish and make it more appetizing to eat. Also, it would be appreciated if they could include the angus beef with the japchae at its original price of $18.5, instead of having to pay an extra $5. Asides from the food, the service was great, as our waiter was very friendly and did his job diligently. The seating was comfortable, as it was big and spacious. Overall, I had a pretty enjoyable experience with Nene Chicken at Vaughan and will likely be coming back again. Although, I would love it if the owner/ chefs could take into account my suggestions for improvement :). [UPDATE - NOV 2024] - Dined in with my family on a early Saturday evening with my family. We ordered the regular soy garlic boneless chicken batch, curly fries, as well as the japchae without the beef since adding beef on top costed an extra $5. The service was great; however, the atmosphere is a bit tight to be honest, like the washroom is tiny and thereโ€™s not much seating. Although, it makes sense, considering the smaller size of the shop. However, I was very disappointed this time around because the japchae was not up to my expectations at all and considering the price of the dish, too, it just seems very unfair and unappetizing. First off, the japchae alone with just the noodles and the veggies is already $18.95. That does not contain any meat or any other alternative protein at all, so thatโ€™s a rip-off in my opinion, especially since the japchae was very oily and the veggies that were used were the same of that in the rice beef bulgogi dish. Traditional Korean Japchae is supposed to compose of shiitake mushrooms, sweet bell peppers, spinach, sliced carrots, and green onion. However, the japchae that I was served at Nene Chicken did not contain any shiitake mushrooms, sweet bell peppers nor spinach. And since meat is not included unless you pay extra, I would expect there to be at least some sliced eggs just for more protein and to make it worth the price of $18.95. However, there was nothing, just carbs and veggies which was very disappointing. The regular soy garlic chicken was also not to my standards and is lacking a lot, in comparison to Chicken Plus and yet the prices are about the same for both, but Chicken Plus even has some rice cakes included in their chicken. Also, I am not an endorser of Chicken Plus. I am just making comparisons based on the different Korean food placed Iโ€™ve eaten as a citizen residing in Vaughan. The curly fries were pretty good, but I mean, you canโ€™t go wrong with fries. Overall, this was a very underwhelming experience and I will likely not be returning anytime soon, unless there are changes made to the menu and pricing because $18.95 for japchae with just the noodles being soaked in excess oil and spring onion/ carrots alone, is not worth it at all. Also, beware of the overly high rating, too, b/c basically if you leave a 5 star review, youโ€™ll...

10/10 for sure for flavors, service that is super friendly (Adam is the best server), and the awesome seating that accommodates smaller groups!

We were able to take advantage of their "Cheer Combo" at the weekday (Monday to Thursday) price of $49 - they have the same deal, but at a higher price of $59 from Friday to Sunday until the end of August ๐Ÿ“

-[WEEKDAY CHEER COMBO] $49 ๐Ÿ— Comes with medium chicken (flavor of your choosing), tteokbokki, tako wasabi, edamame, and a pitcher of beer ๐Ÿ— Honestly, it's a great deal especially because of the quality of the chicken, and the amount of beer included ๐ŸŒถ NOTE: the tteokbokki is quite spicy! I am a spice lover, and enjoyed it but it's definitely spicy so if you can't eat spicy foods, maybe ask if they can make it mild or pay to add cheese!

-[DEEP FRIED OYSTERS] $10.95 ๐Ÿฆช They were smaller than I expected but overall were fine in taste ๐Ÿฆช Came with a side of mayo for dipping ๐Ÿฆช Easily shareable as it came with roughly 8 of them from what I remember

-[FRIED CHICKEN SKIN - SPICY] $8.95 ๐Ÿ— The idea of this dish is really good especially because the spicy powder has a hint of sweetness ๐Ÿ— I would say they just need to work on quality controlling that each piece is crispy because a few of our pieces seemed stale ๐Ÿ— Otherwise though, the concept, and taste were great

-[BONELESS MEDIUM - SWICY] $21.99 ๐Ÿ— This sauce honestly barely has any spice to it - in fact, I'd say it's about as spicy as ketchup haha ๐Ÿ— Still a really good flavor though so I can see why this is one of their most popular flavors ๐Ÿ— Slightly tangy, slightly sweet, and is not spicy at all especially when you compare it to their tteokbokki ๐Ÿ‘€

-[GIN & TONIC] $7.99 ๐Ÿธ I asked to have the server, Adam, make it into a double, ane he kindly told me that although he had never made one before, he would see what he could do! ๐Ÿธ And so, he charged me for the original price of the G&T, and the additional shot of gin (+$4.49) ๐Ÿธ It was delicious haha, thanks again, Adam!

Overall, chicken flavors of the soy garlic or the swicy are ones you cannot go wrong with ordering as they were both delicious ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™ I could see myself coming back, and paying regular price for their chicken, appetizers, and beer pitchers because of how great the...

I came on a Friday night at around 8:15pm with my girlfriend. It was the worst experience Iโ€™ve ever had with a restaurant probably ever. From the moment we sat down we were met with confused staff. Once we ordered they brought our one of our dishes to the wrong table, no biggie but then the blonde guy working that night started arguing with his coworker openly and just threw the food onto our table and walked away with an attitude, we sat there for 10-15 more min without anybody bringing out any utensils for us to use. Once we got our utensils we realized that the utensils we had a sticky residue on it. We then got our 2/3 of the dishes we ordered just to find out 40 minutes into our meal that they still completely forgot about the last dish, the table beside us also had the same issue. They came to both of our tables 3 times in total asking what we ordered, and asking if we got our dishes yet. Obviously no. They asked us specifically what fries we ordered. We ordered their cheer combo and we advised whatever the cheer combo comes with. They had no idea. It was constant back and forth in the restaurant, constant attitude and both waiter and waitress did not seem apologetic about anything. After over an hour at the restaurant we finally received our fries which we requested to go as we could not stand the service any longer. To wrap it up once our bill came the waitress also had no idea what we ordered and asked if this was the correct bill. We asked for a bag for our to go in which we sat for a while waiting just for a plastic bag. Tired of it all we just left. Food mediocre, save your money and go to chicken plus across the Plaza instead. The service was not just bad it seems like they were doing whatever they could to piss us all off. Constantly not knowing whatโ€™s going on and getting fed up with the customer because they donโ€™t know whatโ€™s going on. It was so bad that we laughed about it when got to back to our car. Felt like a whole...

Upon first glance at the NeNe Chicken menu, I was underwhelmed. They donโ€™t seem to have as many options as other Korean fried chicken places that Iโ€™ve been to. Two big examples: they donโ€™t have many sauce options for the chicken and they donโ€™t have any combo deals for one - side has to be ordered separately. After talking to the server Adam about the different options for the chicken, I decided to go with the snowing chilli and wow this did not disappoint!!! The snowing chilli was the perfect combo of sweet and spicy but leaning slightly towards the spicy side. I usually prefer my friend chicken with sauce but was pleasantly surprised at with this sauce less option. Itโ€™s Parmesan cheese and chilli powder mixed, the combination was perfect and this was a 5/5 for me. A friend I went with decided to get the hot bling, which ended up being kind of disappointing. The sauce seemed like it was the exact sauce that comes in the Samyang Bulkdak spicy instant noodle pack. This felt unoriginal to me and I wish they had at least one or two other spicy sauce options to choose from. They also didnโ€™t have any dipping sauce options aside from mayo or ketchup. I personally love mayo so I was made do with this. Other Korean bbq places do have various dipping sauce options, just donโ€™t expect that here at NeNe Chicken. The atmosphere at this NeNe Chicken was incredible! Some of their tables were built into these hut like structures which made for a cool experience. I felt like we had a bit more privacy which was nice. The server Adam was also incredibly nice! He greeted us with a friendly smile, he answered all our questions regarding the menu and he was super attentive to what we needed. Overall Iโ€™m glad we came here. I would certainly come back to NeNe chicken, especially because of their snowing chilli fried chicken. Highly recommend.
