I rarely write a negative review but something about our visit to the bowling ally last night just wasn’t sitting right with me. After coming to Google to read all of the reviews I’m shocked that Mike still works here. My apologies if Mike isn’t the man behind the front counter, although I’m sure he is according to the many other reviews.
A group of us went out for my friends birthday to have some drinks and a good time somewhere local. Upon arrival, Mike seemed like your average customer service guy, took our money and sent us on our way. A few of us got drinks (lovely bar staff by the way, I hope they’re treated with more respect then the paying customers) and headed to the lane. He informed us we couldn’t bring any food or drinks onto the lanes, totally fair. As a women, I did feel a little uneasy leaving my open drink unattended but that’s not what this is about. Later into the night one of my friends called me onto the lane to ask me a question and without thinking I brought my drink. Mike yelled at me (and I’m talking like a real yell) from behind the counter. Everyone’s heads turned on the surrounding lanes and I immediately apologized and ran off the lane. I understand it’s the rules and like I said before, it’s fair, but it was an honest mistake. Another family a couple of lanes down from us had young children (maybe 2 years old) that have probably never even been bowling before. Two of the children wandered out onto the lane and the parents were super quick to run after them and escort them off. Unfortunately, Mike spotted this go down and started yelling “no” repeatedly as he ran over to their lane. The children began to cry out of fear. Like I mentioned, they are children, have probably never been to a bowling ally, and the parents acted quickly. Give me a break. After our own situation and the situation with the other family unfolded our group felt uneasy. Mike continued to patrol the lanes and we felt like we were walking on egg shells, scared to poke the bear.
I went back and forth wondering if it was just me or how I interpreted the situations, but after reading many other peoples reviews it has been made clear it wasn’t just me. Mike, I urge you to please take another approach. A kinder one. We are all human. Despite the off putting night, the actual bowling itself was great. The bowling ally seems to be kept well, bathrooms were clean, and the arcade is a nice addition.
Please do not respond to this saying you will use this review to educate your staff or take further action because dozens of other people have left similar reviews and clearly nothing has changed. This is simply a suggestion to others to take your hard earned money elsewhere until...
Read moreIt is difficult in the winter to plan a birthday party (especially in a small city), so when a snow storm arrives on the day of , cancels all your plans and prevents you from leaving the small city you must plan locally , we were excited to be able to try out this local business for the first time and that it was so close to home that we would be able to still celebrate a very important birthday. We booked 2 hours at this local bowling alley and it was nothing but a complete disappointment. Before arriving we made reservations , read up on the business online which states that cake and/or cupcakes are in fact allowed. Upon arrival , we were not greeted at all. When one of our members walked in with a covered small cake , a man pointed at him and the man proceeded to LITERALLY scream “GET THAT CAKE OUT OF HERE! BRING IT OUTSIDE!” Confused , We politely brought the cake outside , without confrontation. Turned off by his behaviour , we still proceeded to fulfil our 2 hour reservation the man then explained that we could stay a maximum of 1 hour and that one of our group members would have to sit out since we were a group of 7 and only 6 were allowed. (All of which was not what we were promised over the phone.) This was embarrassing, a let down and absolutely disgusting customer service. We left and made our way to another local business that was absolutely incredible , accommodating and made up for this horrid...
Read moreThe last couple of times coming to the bowling ally with friends and family I have experienced a very unfriendly gentleman who has very little customer service. I have worked in customer service since I was 13 and I can never imagine treating customers the way I have seen this older gentleman treat some people. I have witnessed him be very rude and yell at multiple people. They’re was an insistent where two young boys were bowling and accidentally stepped over the line on the lane and he came charging over yelling at these boys and threatened to kick them out if they did it again. I understand you are not supposed to step over the line but there is much nicer and friendlier way of going about things. This is the second time I seen this man over react and be very aggressive. Not only that but like I said above he has very little customer service if any, when you walk in and he greets you, he doesn’t smile, he doesn’t ask you how you are and he doesn’t even let you get a full sentence out before rudely interrupting you. I have experienced both of these things a handful of times and because of this I do not think I will be returning to C&D lanes. Which is sad to say considering I enjoy bowling very much and there isn’t another bowling ally very close to...
