I have been to Papaya every day since landing in Cape Verde! I can not fault most of the food it is fantastic! I have had 90% of the menu and tried as much as I possibly can before throwing up or now fitting on the plane back! The desserts can be a little bit different. Carrot muffins are a tad dry ( they should add pineapple to the recipe)! but still nice! Apple pie is lovely! Coconut cake is lovely, too! The portions of food are very good too! Cocktails are very good. Passionfruit one is sweet but sour! The shakes and smoothies are AMAZING so lovely and healthy! The only two things I'd say are some staff communication skills/ English isn't great, so always double-check your oder! And there's a LOT of homeless dogs around, I would LOVE this restaurant to PLEASE put out a bowl or two of water for them, the restaurant clearly does very well ans I think this is not a big ask! they definitely deserve it they are amazing dogs! Definitely recommend this place for anything and everything it's...
Read moreAt Papaya Café, I had the best raw tuna coated in sesame with sauce – absolutely delicious. The meat was so delicate, it literally melted on the plate while cutting. The taste was an incredible masterpiece. I’ve never had tuna this good – so simple, yet unbelievably delicious. It was served with simple grilled vegetables – the whole dish was a 10/10.
The second dish was chicken curry in coconut sauce with rice. Tender and juicy chicken combined with coconut – something wonderful. The sauce blended perfectly with the chicken. Simple, yet equally outstanding and tasty.
I will definitely come back before returning home – for the tuna and the chicken curry in coconut sauce.
We also ordered takeaway food and it was equally delicious, I love this place, and the smoothies the bartender makes look so good and surely taste phenomenal - you have to go there
The staff could smile a bit more, as they give off a slightly sad energy.
€25 for two dishes.

Read moreFood is amazing and very well prepared. There are so many options and all looks so good. We went there twice and the only problem was the long time we had to wait to get our lunch. We didn’t have any issues because “no stress” but I want to leave the review to give a feedback and help improve because a lot of more money can be made there. Each waiter should be responsible for certain tables and not just checking around forgetting who came first or leave them without a menu for long time. Writing the table number is a must, our order was sent to another table in the first place. The waiter should give to the kitchen the table orders follow the right order, a couple who came after us was served and left while before we got our food. Serving drinks should happen faster, even for a bottle of water I saw people waiting 30 min. The sooner you serve the sooner is gone and they order more. Saying that I strongly recommend this place but go there only if you are not...
