SunFlour — Restaurant in Shanghai

For a bakery, this is quite a historical and huge one. It's heavily patronized by the surrounding international school kids, especially after school ends. You see truckloads of parents/helpers and elementary school children fighting for lunch or icecream.

Their cakes are good, and their bread looks amazing. Too bad I came after lunch, and didn't have sufficient stomach space to try everything. The couple of things I did try, the Sunflour, which is an all wheat bread, and the tiramisu, were both pretty good and goes well with my Americano. I did expect more punchiness though, given that their store name goes with that...

I always jog past here on the weekends and it looks like such a gorgeous place to just relax and hang out with friends. Well, I finally made it and it's nice inside as it looks outside! The place has been newly renovated and the baking operations are also very visible from the main cafe area so you will always be hit by the fragrance of freshly baked bread wafting over...The Fig Danish I had was on point and I will definitely be back to try the rest of the baked goods! SunFlour is one of the first places that opened in Shanghai that served high quality western style bread. This particular location is always packed and it’s difficult to get a seat and service. I wouldn’t recommend coming here for an afternoon tea because this place is a mad house. Come here for the bread and pastries. The hot food items are pretty good but not worth dealing with the crowds.
