Do Not Miss This! Ok, this is my review for Mont Saint-Michel, since there is no opportunity to do a 'Review' of the actual location. Let me just say that this is a destination. If you are in the North of France, then you should visit this. The story behind the local is interesting, however the actual structures placed on solid stone are breathtaking! We only spent one day here, however I would have like to camp (several local campgrounds) close by and come back many times more often. This is NOT a handicapped friendly visit. This is NOT a place with many bathrooms (only at the parking area by the shuttle busses). If you cannot climb up 500 ft. of stairs, on un-even cobble stone surfaces, and handle great heights, this is NOT the place for you. It is a physical challenge to get to the top! Know this! This DOES have many restaurants, trinket shops, and amenities available to you AFTER you have finished traversing the many buildings of this facility and are on your way down. Be careful! As the most costly of these restaurants, are in the very beginning of your descent. Wait, and you will mind much more reasonably priced places to stop and rest to eat and drink! I could not emphasis this more. The first few places are tourist traps. I would not miss this location if given the opportunity, however. It is a once in a lifetime visit in my opinion, which few will...

This was our third visit in thirty years. The first two were brilliant, but oh dear, the powers that be have turned it into a nightmare experience. It's bordering on corporate now and greedy, the expensive car park charges bear witness to that. We decided to walk from seeing the shuttle bus queue. However after our visit and getting on in years, we simply couldn't walk back. So cue the shuttle bus nightmare. There's only two of them, common sense would say one at each end of the route. Oh no, they travel in convoy, so if you miss them, you have a wait and a half. Better than that though, when they do arrive, the people you share them with haven't got the sense of decency to allow as many passengers as possible on. They huddle around the doors, so the aisles between the seats are passenger free. Our lot got all upset when I simply pushed through to get to the spaces. The system needs a driver who has the sense to spread the passengers throughout the bus. A shame, the spiritual feel that the place used to have is now gone and it's all about money,...

If you are ok n Bretagne France, don't miss the Mont Saint Michel. Car parking is about two kilo meters away from the island. Just park anywhere and follow the flow of people ( you can see clearly the tip of the church, there you have to go ). If you don't want to walk, there is a special shuttle bus service, brings you at the end of the connecting bridge. And this is the bridge. I recommend you to walk. When you reach the bridge, you will feel the freshness of surrounding. Check before you go, the high tide and low tide timings at Google. If it's high tide, you will have more fun walking on the bridge. Bridge is about one kilometer long. Both sides you can walk and stay, look at the church and feel the majesty of the construction. How they made it hundreds of years ago. Take time and enjoy. Have fun....
