Our family was excited to be seated outdoors at this restaurant during our visit to Mont St. Michele. Then we waited, and waited. In spite of our friendly gestures to the staff, it took about 20 minutes for someone to set our table and provide menus. We watched several other parties arrive after us and have their orders taken. Once our table was set, we again waited patiently for our order to be taken. We observed that customer service appeared to be random: some parties were served immediately, and their food was delivered reasonably promptly; others, like us, were ignored. After about 30 minutes of waiting to place our order, I approached a waitress who was cleaning a table nearby (of a party that came after we arrived) and in a friendly way offered to clean the table for her, in exchange for her taking our order. She promised that someone would come in 5 minutes. About 10 minutes later I saw a man who appeared to be the manager taking orders at a table nearby, and approached him when he had finished the order. In a friendly manner I explained we had been waiting a long time and asked him to take our order. He scolded me and walked away. At that point, a party who had also been waiting quite some time witnessed this response and left. My family followed them out the door. We were promply seated at the terrace restaurant next door and watched the apparently random treatment of diners for the duration of our stay. We could not determine the pattern of serve/not serve, but it...

Read moreWe stopped by for a quick lunch. We were lured in by the possibility of lunch with a view. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T FALL FOR THIS TRAP!! The staff is very unfriendly and doesn't know how to do their job. We sat for 20 minutes, waiting to order something to drink and eat. The cappuccino we ordered tasted more like water with some unwanted whip cream on top, rather than a drink made with roasted beans and boiled water. I expect they added the whip cream to hide some of the sour taste of the mixture. For lunch we had onion soup, which was most likely prepared with the same mixture as the coffee, however this time they didn't add whip cream but some random greens and small branches... The soup mainly tasted like water, with burned toast and undercooked cheese on top. Being in Mont Saint-Michel, we wanted to taste the omelette Mont Saint-Michel as well. The omelette itself was okay, wasn't it for the tast of an overly used pan in which it was prepared. The omelette had an old and burned taste, even though the omelette wasn't burned. Also, for almost 20 euros for an appetizer, I expected more than just some whipped egg... There was no seasoning and no additions like cheese. From Mont Saint-Michel we had over two hours of driving back, during which we both were still very able to "enjoy" the tastes of La Vieille Auberge Mont Saint-Michel... So please,...
