Coming to the hotel’s reception there was no one to receive guests, we had to wait 20 min for someone to come, then a lady from the restaurant below comes up, 5 guests are waiting to be checked in, she quickly gives us the key says: « would you like breakfast in the restaurant or in the room » and we say in the restaurant, then she says, « ok come with me » and we follow her out of the hotel and into the city, after going some stairs up, I understood, it is not very convenient to have breakfast in the restaurant, since we are already far, so I asked, in this case, could we have breakfast in the room, since we are far now, she says : « yes no problem », then we come into room, I ask for a baby bed, and it had no pillow and no cover, so I had to call to get someone to bring, and they asked me to please check myself in the closets first, I said I did that, so then finally someone came with the cover. Next day we go to make check out, and I see my husband is arguing with the lady at the counter, what is going on?, he tells me she is charging extra for thé breakfast, we explained that the lady who received us, asked if we wanted the breakfast in the restaurant or in the room, as if we already ordered it, and did not say, by the way it is not included on your fee…, so that is something to learn from, always ask if what they are offering to you is or not included, because you may get a surprise if you don’t ! €17 per person, for a orange juice (not freshly pressed), tea, one croissant, a baguette that I do not recommend and some airplanes style jam and butter. Recommend you breakfast outside… The lady at the counter was Kristel, the manager, I recommend her and the hotel owner to really try to change their attitudes of thinking that they are doing one a favor by receiving one in their hotel, but to improve their service by following the principal that everyone in the service business (like a hotel is) knows: « The client is always right » and you listen kindly what they are trying to tell you, because in their experience there is something for you learn and improve in your...
Read moreMy family of five couples enjoyed a two night stay at the Auberge Saint-Pierre. I would recommend asking for the annex rooms. They are a bit of a climb but are wonderfully quaint and clean. I CANNOT recommend the hotels restaurant for any meal. We are a family of ten adults so I understand the difficulty of seating, but you would think a restaurant would see the euros that would be spent by ten Americans on vacation. We made two attempts to eat with them once for dinner and once for lunch. On both occasions the service was non-existent. As Americans we were fully aware that meals in France are an event and there is no such thing as "fast food". We were not looking for that. What we did not expect was to be ignored. On both occasions multiple tables that were seated well after us were served and gone before we received our drinks let alone our food. Half the food we finally received for our dinner meal was cold upon arrival. At our lunch seating after ordering drinks that never came four of our party left the restaurant. One glass of red wine came 40 minutes after our seating, we told the waiter the person who had ordered the wine had left. The waiter in good English said, "Well someone will have to pay for this." Ten minutes later the manager came to our table to enquire if all was well. We told him that we had been there for just under an hour and had not had our food order taken. We had even asked the waiter who brought the wine if we could order our food and he pointed to a young lady and walked away. The manager did try to help and started to take our food orders. We never did get the rest of our wine/drink orders. We paid our bill, did leave a 5% tip, we did not want to be seen as bad Americans. If you are looking for a GREAT meal and wonderful service on Mont St. Michel make a bee-line for the Hotel du Guesclin restaurant. You will be treated to wonderful friendly service and great food with an wonderful view of the bay. We wish we would have eaten our first dinner on the Mont with them, we would not have gone...
