MONOPRIX — Local services in Paris

I went today to grab some snacks. I used the self check out at about 6pm. It was only available in French- the machine didn’t like my card because it was international. The lady walked over and was SO rude. She shoved my things around and pointed to the screen. Before I could finish and show her the issue, she walked away, dilly dallying with another customer. There was obviously no help available so I picked up my items and went to an actual cashier. She came over to me and said I should’ve wait for her help, telling me I was in the wrong and I shouldn’t have left the machine or something to that extent in French. She screamed so loud that the whole front of the store heard her and just stared at me - sorry but if you’re not going to help me, I’ll find someone else to and that was the issue. It was the rudest encounter I’ve...

I can't imagine for a moment what complaints anyone might have about this store, unless they are unhappy about a department store impinging on the business of small specialty shops.

Monoprix is extraordinarily useful. No, granted, I'm speaking from the point of view of a tourist. For me it's a place to buy a pair of gloves because I forgot them at home. It's a place to buy a pretty nice sweater because it's colder in Paris this spring than I expected. A picnic, a bottle of wine, a bottle of brandy, or maybe a corkscrew that I won't mind leaving behind when it's time to get on the airplane.

I really appreciate and rely on Monoprix, and the Rennes store is one...

Waited in line for a human and they told me to use the automated machine, but it didn’t have an option for English. The cashier had checked out two groups in line in front of me, but wouldn’t help me. So I just put the food back and left. Another example of a store with more security guards than employees.

Also this shouldn’t be listed on Google as a grocery store. The grab and go food looks horrible and old. Most of the food on the grab and go shelves was gone, the dates were about to expire, or turning brown and slimy. Don’t get me started on the sushi. 🤢 I’d go anywhere...
