In short: A "restaurant/barista" - as they market themselves on Instagram - where you are literally kicked out by a shouting waiter unless you order the full menu. I have been living in Paris for more than 5 years now, but never have I been yelled at, nor forced to pay and leave without even finishing my drink for not ordering "enough". I met with a couple of friends at Eggs&Co on a Sunday morning and we were given a table after a few minutes waiting at the counter, where we had started ordering coffee. Once seated, we ordered other hot and cold drinks, and when the waiter asked if we wanted to order food too, we politely said no, thank you. In fact, the food menu is more of a "customisation" menu for a full meal that you are somehow forced to order if you want to have some food there. No bites, no individual choices possible, but a full "formule" as the only option. The waiter came back with our drinks and all seemed fine until he came back again after a few minutes saying that we should finish our drinks and leave "as soon as possible", because they needed our table back for potential other customers wanting to order food too. Although it seemed not the most welcoming attitude, we could understand and agreed to leave as soon as we finished our drinks. In the meantime, a second waiter came to see us - we then found out he was the son of the manager - and aggressively ordered us to leave the table immediately, finish our drinks at the counter and leave the place. He seemed very angry and in spite of being a bit shocked by the whole exchange, we agreed to go back to the counter to finish our drinks. He must have changed his mind again then, as the moment we reached the counter he took his card machine, hit it on the counter and shouted at us that we had to pay and leave. At that moment, all the other customers were looking at us in shock. We couldn't finish our drinks, paid the bill and left with the manager and her son still yelling at us while we were leaving the place. I am sure thousands of other customers have had a very positive experience in this place, but please, before going somewhere just because someone famous has gone there/is going there, think about it twice, and read all the reviews. If you are lucky enough, you will have a 4 or 5-star experience, if not, you will probably have the worst experience of your entire...

Read moreProfit over decency. Contempt for customers.
That is the best way to sum up our experience here. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered such hostile service — pure meanness and motivated by $$. We were seated and ordered drinks. Typically you can order small plates, but the only option was a large brunch. We decided we would have our coffee and find somewhere else to eat. But within a couple of minutes of receiving our drinks - one waiter told us that if we weren’t eating — that they needed the table. It was inconvenient since we’d just received our drinks and no one had said that it was necessary to order food to sit (I mean — it is a coffee shop!). We asked for a moment to finish our drinks — he told us « Be quick! ». Within 30 secs another server (I think the son of the owner) told us to « Get up — I need that table. » (this is not an exaggeration -- it's literally how he spoke to us). Trying to accommodating and calm -- we explained that the other server had just said we could finish our drinks and that we understood they needed the table and we'd be on our way shortly. He wouldn’t even let us speak and harassed us until we got up. We felt uneasy with such an unexpected confrontation and everyone's eyes on us. I think other customers were equally surprised at how we were treated. The server told us « it’s not understandable that you stay there — have your coffee at the counter downstairs. » So we went downstairs and he immediately pushed the card machine at us and barked for us to pay…told us he didn’t have time for us. Then his mother (owner) started shouting at us. And on top of all of that — there was no one in line waiting for the table downstairs! I’m still bewildered.
Please PLEASE do not support a business like this. It does not deserve your money. There are too many other great coffee shops in Paris and establishments where you can have a nice experience. This one will give you...
