SHAPES Studio — Local services in Paris

I can’t say enough good things about Shapes Studio in Paris. NYU Paris rented the space for four days in July 2025 for my Portrait in Paris class, and every day was an absolute pleasure. The recommendation came from my colleague, photographer Mark Jenkinson, who has also had excellent experiences renting at Shapes — and now I understand why.

The studio is large, airy, and versatile, with big windows that can be opened for fresh air or fully blacked out when controlling light. We often had around 15 people attending the sessions, and the space handled it beautifully.

Monsieur Frank was wonderful to work with. Each morning, he greeted us with fresh croissants and coffee, and the equipment we needed was always ready. If we required anything extra, it was provided without hesitation.

Shapes is also ideally located — near the Marais, just off Boulevard de Strasbourg, and easily accessible by metro or bus. There are also excellent cafés right downstairs.

Justin and the team were most welcoming when we can to shoot in Paris earlier this month. The studio space was exactly what we were looking for and as advertised. Communication in arranging equipment that we needed was 5* and the team arranged for all of the equipment that was needed for our shoot which was most helpful as we were visiting from the UK with little to zero knowledge of where to get the equipment we needed from. The studio space itself gave us the choice to go with full daylight or black out, great choice to have. The studio is in a great location in the centre of Paris which made it very easy for us and our invited guests we were filming to get to. We had the pleasure of being welcomed by a responsive team during our last shoot. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted. The team was incredibly helpful in setting up all the equipment in the studio, making the process smooth and enjoyable.
