this was my first time trying a macaron from ladurée. i love macarons and i’ve been coveting one of their pretty boxes for years now but never wanted to order online. the price is understandable for the location, but more so for the quality of the macarons. they are simply the best. i had pistachio, passionfruit, and rose. each one was perfect. the rose flavor was a standout. it tasted exactly the way a perfect and fresh rose smells, without being bitter or tasting of perfume.
i won’t be able to give this location 5 stars, as the young woman (light brown hair chin-length with highlights, slightly shorter than average height, glasses) at the counter was a tyrant. we visited the afternoon of thursday, 12 oct just before 1400. i saw a ladurée cart and ladurée shop (to the left of the front of the château) - this is in reference to the woman at the shop. she was very rude, unhelpful, rushed me although there was only one other person in the shop (my mother who i was clearly with), and did not listen or pay attention to my questions so that i was forced to ask them several times each. i told her that i wanted the green box with silver foil, pointed to it, and asked how many macarons fit. she did not hear (or see) the first part of my question, and grew frustrated telling me i can purchase however many macarons i want. this Q&A went back and forth 3 times until i saw they had a display showing it fits 6. i said ok i will have 6. i gave her my flavor picks and asked her for a green box again. she exasperatedly informed me that it costs more. i said yes, i understand. she asked if i wanted the macarons in a bag and to have the box separate so as not to get the box dirty. i said yes, please. she grabbed the pink box (this is now the 5th time i have said green box and pointed to it). she got frustrated again and sighed, putting the pink box back and getting a green one. i asked for the macarons in a bag again at this point (at her initial suggestion), but she put them in the box anyway. it ended up being fine, only a little crumb got in after i ate the macarons. overall, it was an atrocious service experience. i’m a millennial and i don’t fault anyone for bare bones service. i don’t want anyone to perform free emotional labor for me on the clock. you don’t have to smile or pretend to like me or your job, but at least listen to what i’m saying. maybe she wouldn’t have been so frustrated if she’d just taken the time to understand the very first thing i said, but something tells me she’s just like that!...
Read moreThe girl working here was incredibly rude. I was asking if I had to buy the multipack of macarons or if I could buy just one, because I only wanted one. She kept rudely asking me what I wanted, ignoring my question, and looking at me like I was stupid. I asked both in French and English, I got the same rudeness back each time. The macaron was delicious, but her service was so terrible, I regret buying it. I think she realized how annoyed I was by her attitude and she tried to be nicer but it was a bit late by that point. Overall, so disappointing because I love this brand.
Edit: this is the Ladurée store on the main level in the courtyard, not the stall downstairs. The stall seemed to have a larger line than the store on the main floor and I’m not...
Read moreBeen there September 2016... Place is tiny, nowhere to sit. It was also mostly empty. All they had is extremely overpriced macaroons and coffee. The seller lady spoke only French. I didn't buy anything because even if you go to other best macaroon place in Paris, price will be considerably lower. And do they think tourists will want to carry boxes the whole day at Versailles? All I wanted is coffee and croissant or cake but they didn't have it. There is though an Angelina cafe near Marie Antoinette Palace. Which is also overpriced but tasty and friendly. And you can...
