This place is an overpriced tourist trap that takes advantage of tourists thinking they are getting excellent French cuisine and they know it too. First of all, the ambiance is not what I expected being a part of Versailles. It was modern and felt completely out of place after spending hours touring the Palace. When we finally got seated some 15 minutes later than our 3PM reservation was booked for, it took another 15 minutes for the server to come back and take our orders.

I ordered the Ore salad for a starter and the cheese souffle as the main dish and requested the souffle not be served until I was finished with my salad. My wife also ordered that Ore salad and the duck foie gras as the main dish. She requested the same service as we wanted to eat at the same time.

Well first thing is first: we were not done with our salads and here comes her duck. She wanted to wait for my souffle but I told her to just start eating. Some ten minutes later my souffle finally arrived and it was already starting to deflate. I asked what happened and she said that my first one had not risen. Seriously? No, it was likely just left out somewhere and forgotten about or the order didn't even make it to the kitchen. The food wasn't bad per say in flavor, but the service and I dare say arrogance and non-caring attitude was the biggest turnoff.

I felt as a foreign tourist (American) we were not welcome and based on other reviewer experiences, we aren't the only ones. This is not what one would expect from a place that is seated next to one of the most traveled tourist destinations in the world. We later found out through some friends who are true global travelers that there are better places a few kilometer's drive to the east off of L'avenue du Général-Leclerc.

My recommendation if visiting Versailles is to do so on a full stomach and just go elsewhere for dinner afterwards. They know they are in a prime location and do not care about how their service is thought of. There are too many more eclectic smaller off-the-path French restaurants around offering better food, better and more intimate service, and better prices. We didn't spend thousands of Euros in Paris to be sneered at. Now in all fairness this was during the peak of the summer tourist season last year so maybe things are different in the off-season winter months. Either way it doesn't matter as we will never be going back and do not recommend...

For a place that as 39 euro filet 29 euro roated hake hosh posh cafe the service was abislmal. Lets start with walking in the ground level (unless you have reserchased this place) you have no idea its fine dining. A girl on the phone at a reception podium doesnt even look at you so you push the elevator buttun to head up stairs and instantly get scollded for touching the button with out speaking to hear. After she took 2 seconds to confirm our group of five (and call upstairs) we then were given her permission to move on to level 2. Once getting to level two we are greated at the server station while watching a young lady attemt to cut through the bread another girls asks about our reszervation...um sorry no reservatiin...(where did level one girl call to?) Any who nope walk in group of five. As we are lead into the back room of unknowens we are realaizing (at least i am) we are the beverly hillbillys of this place. Modern limiltess decor stunning bar but very high end. We are seated...now this i call level who...the waiting game...beging...as we peruse the menu we have finaly realized that this place prob a bit out of what we are wanting for lunch we discuss (i imagain) and still waiting..After approx 15 min (14 by my count) the waiter comes. Round 4 We order drinks..get our drinks...take our order...get our food...and eat. The food was great dont get me wrong no issues. Now remembee that waiting game we played Round 5 we wait..round 6...everyone is bored..rouns 7 ready to walk 8,9, and 10 all draging on and on. Finaly finaly... After every other table and group aroind us was delt with and serviced they cleared our tables. Asked for deserts instantly declined asked for check. This still turned into round 11 waiting. Round 12 around the corner finaly get our bill and pay...for the kmock. We will...

Our visit started on a rough note. We were in the garden when it started raining, so we decided to head to the restaurant we had planned to visit. However, when we arrived, an employee abruptly turned us away, pushing us out in the rain and closing the door while claiming they were closed. We were confused because we were sure this was the right restaurant. As we stood outside in the rain, uncertain what to do next, we sought shelter in the museum entrance.

After informing the museum staff about what had happened, they clarified that the restaurant was open and guided us to the indoor entrance. But when we reached the restaurant, another employee, who had previously seen us outside, insisted that the restaurant was closed and mentioned a private event. He was unhelpful and dismissive, even watching the rain with a coworker who had locked us out earlier.

Despite our attempts to understand the situation, the employee remained unresponsive, even after we showed him our reservation, and eventually left to check the details. Upon returning, he allowed us to enter and questioned why we hadn't mentioned our reservation earlier. This was frustrating as he had not given us the chance to explain, repeatedly insisting that the restaurant was closed.

Once inside, we noticed that there were only two other groups dining in the restaurant, and no private event took place during our visit. Additionally, three other small groups were asked to leave because they did not have a reservation, even though the restaurant remained empty during our time there. The whole experience left us puzzled.

Although the food was enjoyable, the overall service was lacking, and the mistreatment we experienced was not addressed satisfactorily. Given our experience, I cannot confidently recommend this...
