Very average dose taste. I took benn khaali dose which comes with aloogadde palya and chutney. No place to sit.have to stand and eat. Parcel charges 5rupees.
This dose place is a simple, no-frills spot that seems to draw a steady stream of customers, but for me the overall experience was quite average. I ordered the benne khaali dose, which is served with the usual accompaniments of aloo gadde palya and chutney. The dose itself looked inviting with a light golden colour and a slight sheen of butter, but the taste didn’t quite live up to expectations. While it was crisp on the outside, it lacked that distinct buttery richness and depth of flavour that you would usually hope for in a good benne dose. The aloo palya was decent but nothing remarkable—mildly spiced and on the blander side. The chutney, too, felt rather ordinary and didn’t really add that burst of freshness or punch that can elevate a simple benne dose
One thing to note is that there is absolutely no seating arrangement here. If you plan to eat on the spot, you’ll have to stand and balance your plate, which can be a little inconvenient especially if it’s crowded. If you prefer to take your food home, they do offer parcels, but they charge an additional 5 rupees for packing. For someone who enjoys exploring local dose joints, this place might be worth a quick stop just to see what the buzz is about, but overall it’s more of a one-time visit than a place you’d keep coming back to. The flavours and experience are perfectly passable for a quick snack, but nothing about it stands out as...
Read moreSri Guru Kottureshwara Davanagere Benne Dosa is an absolute gem for dosa lovers. Located in the heart of Davanagere, this eatery is renowned for serving some of the tastiest and crispiest benne dosas you’ll ever find. The popularity of this place is evident from the constant buzz and long waiting times, often ranging from 20 to 30 minutes. However, the wait is definitely worth it for the delightful culinary experience that awaits.
Having frequented this hotel for many years, I can vouch for the consistency in the taste and quality of their benne dosas. The rich, buttery flavor and perfect crispiness make each bite a delight. It's clear that the dedication to maintaining the traditional recipe and cooking methods has paid off, as the dosas taste just as amazing today as they did years ago.
Although I’ve never ventured to try other items on the menu, the benne dosa itself is a standout, and it’s what keeps me coming back time and again. The challenge of finding parking can be a bit daunting, but it’s a small price to pay for such exceptional food. The bustling atmosphere and the anticipation of the dosa only add to the charm of the experience.
For anyone visiting Davanagere or passing through, a stop at Sri Guru Kottureshwara is a must. Despite the wait and parking woes, the reward of savoring their incredible benne dosa makes it all worthwhile. This place is a testament to the fact that quality food can create loyal patrons who come back for more,...
Read moreI had heard great reviews about this place. It was terrible. First of all, the place is extremely unhygienic..I saw at least 4 rats around the kitchen (on the door path)in the 20 mins I was waiting for the food. The kitchen is right next to a basement shed sort of thing which is filled with garbage. The service is negatively exemplary....with the service staff who also make the dose, girmit and bajji, talking and commenting about the customers and also being angry with the cashier for some reason. The food was terrible: The girmit was overtly sweet and nauseating..despite asking the staff to make it less sweet and more spicy - he din't listen nor did he pretend to listen The mensinkayi bajji was devoid of salt and was under fried The benne dose was just about okay...but the dose maker did not bother to listen and understand that I dint want the palya despite telling him 4 times Overall..a terrible food and service experience. I would never recommend it basis the first issue - the complete lack of hygiene and the absolute...
