One of the legendary restaurants in the area and also one of the oldest! . Have visited this place many many times but always forget to click pics so had to delay the review ! . Finally last week I visited this restaurant / darshini
The place is located behind the Basavanagudi temple .it's quite famous and anyone can guide you if you ask.
Coming to food we ordered - 1.puliyogare - I have no words for it , the best puliyogare I have eaten in a darshini hands down! . The puliyogare masala was just mesmerizing ! My mouth was watering between the spoofuls of puliyogare I was stuffing in my mouth! . The spiciness , tanginess of tamarind and all the falvouts is distinctly felt in the mouth ! . Just amazing ! 2.masala dosa - not the best ever but one of the good ones . I wish it was a little more toasted to my taste ....but overall the dosa was really good . The Aloo is your normal turmeric chilly Aloo palya . Nothing great but can't fault it either . 3.vada samber - the bought the vada just to have the samber ! The samber is just amazing at this place ! The depth of flavour reminds me of every amazing idly , vada and dosa I have eaten till today with samber ! The vada was pretty good , it was big and properly fried and had generous portions of pepper . 4.coffee - it was filter coffee....can never fault that one .
The prices are pretty low , the puliyogare is 40 bucks , the masala dosa -35 bucks ,vada -20 bucks and coffee 10 bucks .
The service is very fast ! And waiters are really polite . They have both service and self service sections ! The ambience is good nothing grand but clean , hygienic and filled with tasteful paintings !
Overall all the name stands ! The restaurant is worth is worth is legend tag! . Must visit for foodies and must visit for puliyogare if your...

The tamarind rice here has that perfect balance of tanginess and spice, with the fragrance of roasted sesame and hing that instantly takes you back to temple offerings and home festivals. It’s flavorful without being heavy, and every bite feels like tradition on a plate.
The usli was another highlight—light, wholesome, and seasoned just the way it should be. The lentils were cooked to perfection, and the tempering gave it a simple yet deeply satisfying flavor. It paired so well with the rice and felt like true satvic comfort food.
And then came the ambode—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with the right amount of spice to complement the rest of the meal without overpowering it. It’s the kind of snack you could keep eating endlessly with a hot cup of filter coffee.
What ties it all together is the authenticity. No onion, no garlic—just clean, satvic flavors that showcase how good Iyengar cuisine can be when done traditionally. Service was quick, and portions generous, making it a place you’d want to keep coming back to.
For anyone craving puliyogare that tastes like home, nourishing usli, and crunchy ambode, this restaurant...

I urge you to exercise caution in your word choice and reviews, as making defamatory statements against me is unwarranted. I was compelled to raise my voice after being subjected to unwarranted insults from your staff, a situation that the establishment's owner did not even deem worthy of addressing. Instead of instructing his staff to verify the payment, he attempted to appease me. When operating a hospitality business, prioritizing the hiring of experienced and well-mannered staff is paramount.
Furthermore, serving hygienic food is essential. Instead of focusing on responding on Google, I implore you to concentrate on areas for improvement, particularly regarding your staff and the quality of your food.
Please be mindful of the language you use. The entire issue originated with the cashier, who demonstrated a lack of financial acumen and an exceedingly rude attitude towards me, humiliating me in front of numerous individuals without justification. I then raised my voice, as I had committed no wrongdoing. Furthermore, it appears that the owner consistently supports his staff while unfairly blaming customers.
Jai Hind. May God bless you and...
