After seeing Reel on instagram from Local , decided to visit This 200 old Confectionery for their Soan Halwa but it was not good for my taste buds , seeing Pista Clauj & Badam Clauj @ Display asked them for taste of it but they refused to give taste stating u have to buy min 100 grams , being tourist thought it’s ₹4200 & 3000 / Kg respectively so they won’t be giving for taste , happily bought 100 grams & liked flavour of it so purchased 3 boxes of mix of both -weighing 250 grams each . They were packing it in normal box , seeing designer box asked them to pack sweets in it but they refused to pack in it saying empty Box charge of it is ₹350 , I believed them & did not insist but & purchased but now I realised that I was made fool as that was box specifically made for Those expensive sweets( it had cavity for putting piece by piece into it & staff should have packed them into it but they didn’t after my asking also …No one will pay extra for boxes of sweet which is ₹4200/kg .

More for Packing this both sweets staff went upstairs( though no other customer in shop except us) & got them packed & gave us , I opened their box & found Badam one 8 pcs & Pista -6 pcs in 250 grams ,upon asking they said Pista Clauj weigh more in weight so less in qty but now I have strong feeling that they may have weighed 150 grams of Badam & Pista 100 gram in each box of 250 grams….( Overall did not get satisfactory experience even after spending ₹ 3210/- This feedback is specifically for management without prejudice to look for their staff & have transparent system in place for such legendary shop which has legacy of over 200 years ….. Attach - Picture of Invoice & normal packing ( didn’t to photo of...

Delhi’s oldest and most famous sweetshop had originally been set up in 1790 by a certain Lala Sukh Lal Jain, and over the 200 years of its existence, had catered to pretty much the who’s-who of not just Delhi, but beyond. It was patronized by the Mughal emperor; by famous statesmen, film celebrities, and more. The shop’s signature sweet, the ghee-laden, rather nougat-like sohan halwa was renowned far and wide.

In 2015, Ghantewala was shut down (probably unable to cope with the competition of a newly-opened Haldiram’s right opposite), but now it’s reopened, as a small, stylish little store. There is air-conditioning, and there’s proper seating upstairs. It’s a far cry from the relatively squalid, barebones environs of all the other traditional sweet shops in this area.

Besides the array of laddoos, pedas, barfis etc that are laid out at the main display, Ghantewala also do chaat, various savoury snacks (pakoras, kachoris, samosas), and so on. These, however, are available only after noon; before that, they serve only breakfasts: aloo-bedmi and chhole-poori. We had already had breakfast, so we only treated ourselves to some gulabjamun (delicious, hot and fresh) and got some mithai packed. We tried the pedas, the raagi laddoos and the mawa laddoos,...

Ghantewala is a historic sweet shop known for its delicious Sohan Halwa and Karachi Halwa. Recently, it has reopened near Sis Ganj Gurudwara, opposite Haldiram's, bringing back its legacy of authentic flavors.

I have been enjoying their sweets since 2000, and I must say that the taste remains as rich and pure as ever. Made with desi ghee, their sweets carry the same traditional essence that has delighted generations. The Sohan Halwa and Karachi Halwa continue to be their specialties, offering a perfect balance of texture and sweetness.

Along with their classic offerings, Ghantewala has expanded its menu with a variety of other sweets. I noticed that their gujias looked especially tempting, making them a great option for festive indulgence.

The shop maintains its old-world charm while ensuring high quality in every bite. Whether you're a longtime fan or visiting for the first time, it’s a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Indian sweets in Chandni Chowk.

If you have a sweet tooth or simply appreciate well-made traditional sweets, I would highly recommend Ghantewala. Their consistency in taste and quality makes them a standout choice in Delhi’s...
