Natraj - A Must-Visit Street Food Stall in Chandni Chowk,

If you find yourself in the vibrant streets of Chandni Chowk in Delhi, make sure to visit Natraj, a legendary street food stall that promises an unforgettable culinary experience. Situated right at the center of this bustling area and within walking distance from the metro station, Natraj is a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts.

Upon arriving at Natraj, I was immediately captivated by the enticing aromas wafting through the air. The stall is known for its exceptional Aloo Tikki and Dahi Bhalla, and I couldn't wait to indulge in these street food delicacies. The fact that the stall has maintained its secret masala recipe for over 80 years only added to the intrigue.

First, I savored the Aloo Tikki, and it exceeded my expectations. The tikki was flawlessly cooked, boasting a crispy exterior that gave way to a perfectly seasoned and fluffy potato filling. It was served with sweet and mint chutney, which added a delightful balance of flavors. The sweet chutney provided a touch of sweetness, while the mint chutney added a refreshing and tangy kick. Together, they complemented the Aloo Tikki brilliantly.

Next, I eagerly tasted the Dahi Bhalla, which truly showcased Natraj's unique culinary prowess. The Dahi Bhalla had an unparalleled taste, thanks to the secret masala that has remained unchanged for generations. With every bite, I could sense the depth of flavors imparted by this secret blend. The velvety smoothness of the dahi (yogurt) combined with the tender bhallas (lentil dumplings) created a divine culinary experience. Each mouthful was an explosion of flavors, leaving me yearning for more.

One aspect that stood out about Natraj is its popularity. The stall draws in a massive crowd, particularly during the evenings. Despite the constant influx of customers, the food is always fresh, indicative of the stall's commitment to quality. This dedication to providing consistently delicious food has undoubtedly contributed to Natraj's enduring legacy.

Reaching Natraj is incredibly convenient, thanks to its proximity to the Delhi metro. Whether you're a local or a tourist exploring the city, you can easily find your way to this culinary gem. However, do note that seating arrangements are limited, as is the norm for street food stalls. Embrace the lively atmosphere and enjoy your food while standing or find a nearby spot to sit and relish the delectable treats.

One minor critique I have is that the mint chutney was slightly saltier than my palate preferred. Nevertheless, taste preferences can vary greatly, and it's possible to adjust the chutney's saltiness according to personal taste by either requesting less salt or using it sparingly.

It's worth mentioning that Natraj also houses a restaurant above the stall, where they serve a variety of dishes including Chinese cuisine and pav bhaji. This provides an excellent opportunity to explore other flavors and dishes while enjoying the comfort of indoor seating.

In conclusion, my visit to Natraj was an unforgettable experience. The Aloo Tikki and Dahi Bhalla exceeded my expectations, showcasing the stall's commitment to culinary excellence. The bustling ambiance, fresh food, and convenient location near the metro station added to the overall charm. While seating may be limited and personal taste preferences may vary, these factors do little to dampen the enchantment of this iconic street food stall. Natraj in Chandni Chowk is a true gem, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic and delightful street food...

Each bite is a symphony of crunch and tenderness, with the crispy outer shell giving way to a creamy, potato-filled center. The subtle blend of spices, including cumin, coriander, and chili, adds depth and complexity, while the tangy tamarind chutney and zesty mint-coriander chutney provide a burst of freshness that enlivens the palate.

Food Quality & Service Experience

While the food quality at Natraj was decent, our dining experience was completely overshadowed by the poor service and unprofessional behavior from owner and staff.

What We Ordered: Dahi Bhalla Aloo Tikki

The Problems: The staff displayed a remarkably indifferent attitude throughout our visit. When we ordered aloo tikki, instead of serving us at our table, the owner rudely told us to "go down, stand in queue, and get it yourself." This was both unprofessional and embarrassing for paying customers.

The situation worsened when we wanted to order one additional dahi bhalla. The owner flat-out refused our request, stating we should have ordered everything together initially. This inflexible and customer-unfriendly approach was shocking.

Bottom Line: Despite the food being acceptable, the combination of indifferent staff behavior and the owner's atrocious rudeness made this a thoroughly unpleasant dining experience. Good food cannot compensate for such poor hospitality and disrespectful treatment of customers.

Would I recommend? NEVER. There are plenty of other excellent food options in Chandni Chowk where you'll be treated with basic courtesy...
