“Khemchand Daulat ki Chaat” More Like Street Fool: Overhyped & Overpriced Disaster”

Oh, the allure of big names and bold promises! From a renowned franchise you'd expect something iconic, right? Wrong “Khemchand Daulat ki chaat” Is great example of “ name bade aur darshan chote” For a jaw-dropping 100 rs I was handed a tiny bowl 🥣 filled with yellow and white foam served with a personal vendetta against taste. The franchise boasted “authentic street flavors,” but I’m guessing they meant streets paved with disappointment. The portion size was so tiny, it felt like a meal for a toddler who is on a diet And if I talk about taste then i will Sometimes, you eat something so bad that it leaves a permanent scar on your taste buds. Such was my experience with this “ghatiya chaat” that dared to call itself food but tasted like it came straight out of a chemistry lab experiment gone wrong But the best part? The audacity to charge a “luxury street food” price while delivering something that wouldn’t pass for decent at a neighborhood food stall. The only thing authentic here was my regret.

Would I go back? Only if I were conducting research on how to waste money effectively. Save...

Available only during the winter season, Daulat ki Chaat is as light as air which made by whisking the milk for about three to four hours to transform the milk into a whimsical froth enriched with sweetened mawa, topped with a saffron mixture and dry fruits.😋

Mr Khemchand Adesh Kumar was introduced this sweet version of the chaat to the capital of India. You can visit his stall at Kinari Bazar near the famous Parathewali Galli.👈

With the price point of Rs. 50, the portion may look less but considering the delicious taste & the amount of work behind, it is worth the cost.👌

क्या है दौलत की चाट?

दौलत की चाट कोई चाट नहीं है जैसी हम आमतौर पर खाते हैं। यह दरअसल एक फेनिली, झागदार, दूध और केसर से बनी ठंडी मिठाई है, जो इतनी हल्की होती है कि ज़ुबान पर रखते ही घुल जाती है। इसे ठंडी रातों में ओस में रखा जाता है ताकि झाग बने और फिर उसमें मिश्री, केसर, पिस्ता, इलायची और कभी-कभी चांदी का वर्क डाला जाता है।

श्री खेमेंचंद जी की दुकान दशकों से पुरानी दिल्ली में यह मिठाई बेच रही है। आज भी उनकी छोटी सी रेडी चावड़ी बाजार मेट्रो स्टेशन से कुछ ही दूरी पर लगती है। उनके बेटे अब इस परंपरा को आगे बढ़ा रहे हैं, लेकिन स्वाद और क्वालिटी आज भी वही पुरानी, भरोसेमंद है।

🍧 स्वाद का अनुभव:

हल्का-फुल्का, बादलों जैसा – यह मिठाई आपके हाथ में भले ही एक कटोरी में हो, लेकिन जैसे ही मुंह में जाती है, लगता है जैसे बादल खा रहे हों।

रबड़ी और केसर का झलक – स्वाद एकदम नाज़ुक है, ज़्यादा मीठा नहीं, बल्कि रबड़ी जैसा हल्का मलाईदार।

टॉपिंग्स का तड़का – पिस्ता, केसर, इलायची और मिश्री इसकी मिठास को और निखारते हैं।

⏳ मौसम और समय:

यह मिठाई सिर्फ सर्दियों में मिलती है, नवंबर से फरवरी तक।

सुबह से लेकर दोपहर तक ही बिकती है, क्योंकि जैसे-जैसे तापमान बढ़ता है, झाग बैठने लगता है।

Khemchand जी अक्सर सुबह 10 से दोपहर 2 बजे तक ही मिलते हैं।
