I am not one to regularly review restaurants, bakeries, or other establishments in Dublin - but my time at Ayla inspired me to begin journaling places of interest.
My first time there - I was greeted by the owner who is absolutely lovely. An American tourist was present, and the owner was giving him a pretty thorough orientation to the city. The owner is genuinely friendly, and offered recommendations on what to get - as well as offering out free samples. I was lucky enough to try some of the Rose Turkish Delights (they were amazing), as well as some of the Bakalava (saturated with honey and flavor).
They have a wide assortment of food and drink besides that, so getting your groceries is always viable there - but the bakery is the main attraction. If you find yourself nearby, I'd recommend you stop in and get a treat...
Read moreI always thought I didn't like baklava. Then I tried the fresh baklava here and realised I actually love it, I just don't like the prepackaged versions I'd tried before. They have a selection of freshly baked baklava, Turkish Delight, and other goodies. Even the prepackaged cookies taste pretty fresh. They're exactly like ones that they sell in the bakeries back in Morocco (I guess we have things in common with the Turks). They also have a nice variety of cheeses, olives, tinned foods (I like the tinned aubergine - tastes just like Moroccan zaalouk - and the stuffed vine leaves), teas, and natural soap in scents like lavender...
Read morewe have been shopping from Ayla for many years, so far we had no complaint, but it is getting to the stage where the prices are extremely high for the basic grocery products, so we are cutting shopping trips to Ayla. we heard that finally there will be new and wider Turkish shop will be opening soon in the city center, so we are hoping that might make them to put sensible prices on their products, especially Sucuk, frozen simit and pastries. just a friendly advice please reconsider your pricing strategy, otherwise this might affect your business...
