Unfortunately, my experience here at the Hotel Riu Plaza was very bad and I apologize now for how long this review is going to be but I have a long list of issues. First off, the location of the room was terrible. When we checked in the front counter person told us the main building of the hotel was full so they had to put us in the new part of the hotel. Thought we were being upgraded but that was definitely not the case. They then gave us a map of how to arrive to the room and it really was confusing. First you have to take an elevator up 2 floors, walk 100 meters to another elevator then go down 2 floors to the D floor, which was the previous garage floor. I saw a couple other people going up and down the elevators in confusion on how to get to the main lobby. Secondly, the room was located just at the loading and unloading dock for trucks making deliveries and pickups. Also the room is located just where the exhaust fans from the kitchen exit which made it impossible to be able to open the window for some fresh air because the smell of grease from breakfast cooking came into the room. Really bad planning by the engineers in placing rooms in that location. To top it off, we tried to take a nap after lunch but we were abruptly woken by the collection truck loading up empty beer canisters, so you can imagine it was very loud but please see the video attached. The loading of empty beer canisters lasted about 10 minutes. Next, the bathroom size and shower are great but the only issue is the height of the toilet or lack of height. It is too low and feels like it was installed for children or very short adults. It was difficult to sit on and to get up, especially at my age and physical abilities. The toilet should be raised to a normal height. Also, since the rooms on floors C and D are the ex-garage floors, the construction of walls, doors and windows was cheaply done. Everything is paper thin and we could hear all noises from neighbors and people walking through the hallways. People just talking and via the window when trucks pulled up and did their work of loading or unloading. I’ve also uploaded a video of the view from our room, which doesn’t inspire any feeling of this being a great hotel. There were some good things about the experience, like the breakfast buffet, the size of the room and bathroom and the water pressure of the shower. To be honest though, I was highly disappointed with the experience of the Hotel Riu Plaza, especially since it is not a cheap hotel. The staff also are very friendly and helpful. Also even the cleaning staff you see in the hallways all said good morning and have a good day each time we saw them. I cannot recommend this hotel due to our bad experience.

The hotel has responded to my review stating that they cannot control was goes on with my reservation because of the channel that I booked my room. I booked my room directly on their website! How can they not take responsibility for their own website and the bookings that go through it? Wow, sounds like the reputation manager is making excuses for their service and rooms. Without even clarifying what route I took for my reservation!...

This is a 4-star hotel whose recent reviews read more like a low quality hostel, and for a good reason. Months ago, we booked Hotel Riu Plaza The Gresham Dublin for our last night in Ireland wanting to be located city centre on our last night. I'm not able to rate zero stars so I'll give this hotel one star for its location, as well as the fact that breakfast was included. When we checked in to our three rooms with three different desk clerks, not one of them mentioned the substantial construction that was taking place. I previously stayed at a hotel that was undergoing construction and received an email in advance advising of the construction, apologizing for the inconvenience and providing a significant discount with a note that they hoped I would still choose their facility for my holiday. Not Riu. We got off the elevator to a hallway filled with construction dust that was so significant, several of my family members immediately started coughing. The noise should also have warranted issuing earplugs at check-in. We actually had rooms in two different parts of the hotel, and it was the same in both areas. As a family, we made a decision to make the best of it since it was the last night of an incredible family trip. At 6:45 am, we were awakened to a shrill fire alarm and ran to open the door to see many confused guests in the hallway attempting to assess if there was a fire or a drill or an issue with the alarm system. I attempted to call the reception desk twice before pulling on some clothes and going downstairs. We attempted to access the stairs rather than taking the elevator to find that the nearest fire exit/stairwell was blocked by a huge tube running down the stairs (picture included) so we took the elevator. I arrived downstairs to find many confused guests and five (including the night manager) staff milling around leading me to wonder why nobody had answered when I called the desk about the fire alarms (both inside my room and in the hallway). I spoke with the night manager who told me there had been a problem with the system, and I asked why none of those staff available were sent to the impacted hallways to let guests know. He didn't have an answer so I walked away, and returned to my room with no likelihood of returning to sleep. As it turned out, there was no hot water for my shower either. I did see a pathetic attempted at service recovery and hour later with a note in the elevator apologizing (picture also attached). Ignore any reviews prior to July 2023, and stay somewhere else until The Gresham learns the meaning of customer service. Expect to see this review cross-posted on...

The hotel is in a great location, a little further down from the center but it's very close and walkable.

We arrived prior to the check-in time and were given the option for our bags to be held which was great but our room ended up being ready quickly and we easily were checked in. Upon checking in we had superior assistance taking our bags to the room. The hotel foes appear to be going through some remodeling so it can be a bit confusing navigating the elevators. Two different elevators, one that has floor numbers and the other labeled by letter. We had to go up one elevator, get off on a floor then walk down the hallway to another elevator where were had to go up another tower and then down a hall. That's not terrible just takes some adjusting.

We have been pretty disappointed in our room. Considering this is our first trip to Dublin and picked this hotel because of its ratings and quality of reviews, but I am sad to report I have not had the same experience. The bathroom sink was clogged, we put a service request in and it was fixed quickly. The AC was not working, we put in a service ticket then left for the afternoon and returned to the ticket showing the AC was fixed but yet it still doesn't work. Placed another service request and spoke to the front desk who said a manger would come to our room. Someone came, messed with the thermostat and then offered us a fan because maintenance has gone for the day. At this point I took it since I am exhausted from traveling but this is unacceptable. The icing on the cake was the shower! The water does not drain properly and the base becomes so full it spills onto the floor becoming a slipping hazard. So another service request for towels and for someone to fix the shower. At this point it's only been 10 hours of a 10 day trip and I am so disappointed and frustrated!!

Hoping to have something resolved ASAP!

Day 3 revision After 2 nights of flooding in the bathroom and the AC not working I was able to speak with a manager named Jamie who appeard to understand how frustrated I was. He immediately said the room will be looked at and offered to change our room which is what we had been asking to do for 2 days. Apparently the room below ours complained water was dripping into theirs.....I wonder why? First night in our new room, the shower works properly, the AC works a d everything else appears to be exactly what I expected. After a long day, we enjoyed a complimentary dinner due to our troubles although I am expecting additional compensation given what we have delt with Changed from a 1...

We encountered cockroaches, dirty bed linen, bed linen that was inside out, a move to a worse room and a heating unit that wouldn't turn off, it was one of the worst stays in a hotel that I can remember. We were supposed to be staying another night but we cancelled this. On Thursday night around 10pm as we're getting ready for bed we found a cockroach in our room. I tried to phone downstairs but the phone in the room wouldn't ring through to downstairs so I had to phone on my mobile. They sent someone up to collect it as I had trapped it in a glass (see pictures). The gentleman then dropped it again and was scared to trap it, so again I had to catch it which was very unpleasant. He said we should move rooms as there may be more and he would tell reception who would then be in touch. After some time and no contract from reception we went downstairs with our bags to request the change of rooms. Your staff apologised and gave us another room on the third floor. This room was much smaller and not as nice as our first room which we accommodated so that we could just go to sleep. Unfortunately, this room had filthy bed covers (see picture) and the bed linen was on inside out. We were so tired from our flight we decided to ignore it and go to sleep anyway. The room was unbearably hot and we couldn't turn off the air conditioning unit as it required a pin to use it, there are several other reviews noting this. We then tried to go to sleep anyway and were greeted by a knock at the door. The hotel doesn't provide robes, we had to get changed back into our clothes to answer it and were given chocolates by a staff member. We then tired to go back to sleep and around 20-30 mins later again they knocked on our door to give a bottle of prosseco (gone 11.30pm), whilst the intent was appreciated, we weren't going to drink it. It also took c.20+ minutes for us to get our drinks following ordering at the bar. Location was good. The bus from the airport drops you outside. Looks nice from the outside. Overall v. disappointing stay for the price.
