I ordered fillet mignon and sirloin, waited for around 25 minutes. I saw one sirloin wad ready on the paper plate, then the staff found out he forgot to grill the fillet.
I think itās ok, I donāt blame him because there are just too many orders. There are more than 15 steaks on the grill at the same time and there is just one staff to grill.
But then, he took out a random thin meat and said that was my order. I actually had been standing there for 25 mins and witnessed that the female staff told him itās wrong before he came to me. He just ignored her and me as well.
I told him, l ordered fillet mignon, not this. He pointed to my plate and said, ā it is fillet mignonā. I insisted that the steak he gave me was not fillet mignon and I donāt even understand why we need to argue. Then, he just took out another thin meat from the grill and tried to educate me what a fillet mignon is.
I found that funny, but I am actually fine with that whatever charcoal grilled beef. So I took two steak back and started to eat.
The right one in the photo is sirloin steak, the taste is ok, lovely crust on the surface. But the steak had been grilled for too long and become well done.
The left one in the photo is āfillet mignonā according to him, inside it was almost uncooked.
I went back to him and said. It is cold. He looked unhappy and said some Italian I canāt understand. So I repeated a few times ,it is cold, cold, cold. Then, a taller staff (the cashier and butcher ) came and tried to educate me that my order is medium rare, it is supposed to be cold.
I was actually amazed. I didn't bother to reason with them. I just said, āfirst it is not fillet mignon and second it is cold.ā
The taller staff said something to another staff. I thought I got a refund or another steak. Instead, they gave me a hot metal plate. That actually worked and my āfilletā became a Japanese hot stone style steak.
P.S. I donāt see any of them wipe or clean their hands during the whole time, but they seasoned the food with their fingers. Just an observation, Iām...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDisappointing, their presentation is on point, and they do well to stand out amongst the other stalls in the Mercato Central food court and believe me, some of the dishes I saw come out looked incredible. Unfortunately, however, my experience didnāt live up to the potential. 30 minutes after ordering, I enquired as to the whereabouts of my food. I was then presented with our two meals, both cold and one, something entirely different from what I ordered. The staff remarked they couldnāt do anything to help me out. They bickered amongst one other with no resolve. I continued to challenge them, to the point that I was, like a complete annoyence, demanding a refund. They refused but finally offered to give me what Iād originally ordered, replacing the wrong serving. As for the second meal, though, they merely reheated it, so you can imagine how that tasted. Reheated steak⦠Lovely. All this took over an hour. A waste of time and money. Sure I saw others enjoying their meal, but tread with caution if you're considering eating here. If they mess up your meal, don't expect a...

They were giving out samples of the steak on sticks & they tasted great so I ordered the same meat.
Spent 89⬠for a 1.5kg Bistecca alla Fiorentina based on what I tasted. but when the meat was served it was tough as rubber. Told them about it and they did nothing.
Don't eat at this butcher shop at Mercato Central Florence Italy. Its a tourist trap - they serve you low quality meat. You have to pay upfront so cant do anything when meat served is terrible.
Don't waste your money at La Carne E Salumi -...
