5 star hospital in my eyes, as a foreigner. My 5 year old came down with an illness two days before our trip to Japan. Doctor in United States cleared my child to travel. As their condition worsened during a 24+ hour travel day I was panicking and my child was in significant pain. 12 hours after arriving in Japan we decided to seek help. My hotel staff helped me with getting a taxi and calling the hospital in advance of our arrival to let them know we were coming and were Americans that didnโt speak Japanese. We were greeted at the door by the kindest staff Iโve ever met. An older woman with impressively good enough English assisted us during our entire visit. She was so sweet and caring while also being very quick and efficient. Our doctor was an older gentleman that had excellent bedside manner with my cranky child. He listened to my concerns when it was clear I wanted medication instead of letting her illness run its course, like his initial recommendation. I was a scared mama that didnโt want to rely on my childโs immune system while traveling across the world. He prescribed multiple medications to help my child and explained each one thoroughly. After seeing the doctor we paid and waited to pick up the medication at the pharmacy located inside the hospital. $50 USD for the visit and medication. An hour and a half total visit. The staff gave me peace of mind and helped my child recover quickly during our vacation. If you ever find yourself needing assistance, this is the place to...
ย ย ย Read moreI have a 2-year-old daughter and I always take her to this hospital. My experience has been great so far, but today, my daughter suddenly started crying .After an hour of waiting, she wouldn't stop, so my husband called me at my work and we decided to go to the hospital and i left work early. I made a call to the hospital around 8 PM to request an emergency response. I spoke with the receptionist and was handed over to a nurse. The nurse put me on hold to discuss the case with the doctor, but I don't think the call was properly held. I overheard the entire conversation between the nurse and the doctor. The nurse was laughing hysterically while explaining my daughter's symptoms to the doctor. I felt a little sick after hearing it. It's stressful to see my child in such pain. Why was the nurse laughing? ๐จโโ๏ธ did i say anything funny? ๐ Does the nurse on the phone really treat patients with respect? Is she just finishing her shift and going home ? I live close to the Atami memorial hospital in Atami, but I always go there. This incident makes me not...
ย ย ย Read moreI cannot overstate how great this hospital is for foreign travellers who are in a pickle. The receptionist went above and beyond the call of duty to help me navigate the paperwork and to go to internal medicine to deal with the doctors and more paperwork.
Other hospitals would've rejected us whether cause they were closed or cause they don't serve foreigners. But this one went through all the hoops.
Price for medicine came out very cheap however you will have to pay the full price for the doctors consultation and the surcharge fee if you're not insured. I think this is completely reasonable...
