If you've never been to an Original Pancake House in the United States, and you like the Japanese take on an American breakfast, then you'll probably like it just fine.
If you are from America, or have experienced an American OPH, are expecting an authentic OPH-style breakfast, then don't bother going here. You will be disappointed.
The buttermilk pancakes were dry and didn't have any of the yeasty qualities you'd find in a state-side OPH. They almost tasted like they were frozen. You get about 2 tables spoons of maple syrup.
The bacon is Japanese style. It's more like ham, and not very good ham at that.
The sausage is also Japanese style. It's ok, but not really breakfast sausage like you'd see in a state-side OPH.
The fuwafuwa fluffy pancakes were ok. Probably under cooked for my liking, but I'd never had them before, so I have nothing to compare them to.
The bacon cheese omelette was ok. It's advertised as having cheddar cheese, and maybe it does, but it didn't taste like it. Tasted like "natural cheese" that you find in Japan. The bacon was the same ham as our side order.
Maybe try the french toast? Better yet, you should probably skip it all together.
The service was fine. The place was clean....
Read moreAs a chef, I’m always hesitant to write reviews in a negative manner as I know it is hard to run a restaurant. However, in this case, I feel very disappointed in this restaurant. There was about a 20 minute wait, despite the fact that there were about, 40% seating still available. The only good thing I have to say is they actually made the eggs well and the latte wasn’t too bad. But whoever is in the kitchen really needs to take the time to learn time management as well as how to properly make pancakes and not overcook them(very dry). Service overall needs a lot of improvement! There should be absolutely no reason you have a digital menu and you still have to hunt down a waiter. Lastly , please make sure that you’re washing your rags or replacing them frequently because the glasses have a very bad odor. If you’re in the need of assistance, please feel free to reach out to me. I am more than happy to offer advice...
Read moreUsing google maps this was actually hard to find. It is IN the Kitte shopping center on the 2nd floor towards the back.
The food was delicious! And the presentation was amazing. My wife got the Dutch baby and the presentation from the waitress was great! My son ordered their French toast and was blown away at how much bigger it is than what we get in the states from other establishments. My daughter enjoyed her eggs Benedict and I enjoyed my breakfast sampler.
This place was a breath of fresh air as Americans we are use to the staple of breakfast foods being eggs, bacon, pancakes etc. Visiting and living in Asian countries “breakfast” is hard to come by and is usually hit or miss. Running to eat donuts every day doesn’t cut it so this was a great change during this trip.
Highly recommend trying this...
