My family and I had stayed in the hotel for 5 nights for our trip to Fukuoka. We enjoyed our stay very much at your hotel, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly. However, there is definitely space for improvement.
As we checked in the hotel, we were happily surprised when we were offered either complimentary 400 IHG Rewards points or some free drinks coupons which could be used at any restaurants in the hotel. The drinks coupons were chosen. So in one evening during our stay, we went for a drink at the Mezzanine Bar. At the bar, we were suggested that, according to my membership (Gold Elite), we could only order non-alcoholic beverages. After several requests (to different servers who neglected our requests) for the menu, we finally received the menu and placed our order. My sister ordered a Virgin Bloody Mary which we totally understood was not in the offer and we were very happy to pay for that. Obviously, the server didn't really speak English and she just stood there and stared at us but couldn't tell us what was the problem and didn't go get some help from her superior, even when we promised that we would pay for that cocktail. After the failure of communication, we just gave up and ordered another glass of orange juice, A few minutes later, we were told that we could not order freshly squeezed orange juice, only OJ in the box was offered.
We were extremely disappointed with the quality of the service at the Mezzanine Bar. It is completely understandable for the limitation of beverages offered for your members in different statuses or levels. However, for the hotel or the hotel chain, it would be good to manage your members' expectation first, and separate or special menus for members in different statuses/levels would be appreciated too. To the bar, language barriers often happen when we travel but we were having a great time when we were exploring the city, some shopkeepers or servers in some local restaurants didn't even speak a single word of English but they served well with a bright smile. The servers we encountered at the bar seemed lack of an initiative in serving or solving problems. Oh, another thing. We did know that the coupons were for free drinks but we were actually quite surprised that they didn't serve nuts to us, it is obviously we were there for free drinks. Honestly, this act really didn't give your brand justice.
At the end of this review, despite the awkward experience at the bar, I would like to thank all the staff in the hotel for the good service and sweet smiles. Thank you very much for making our stay...

Driving direction: Crowne Plaza Fukuoka is very near to the airport. It takes about 15min and cost less than Yen 2000. Parking: There’s hotel parking for guests with a fee.
Hotel room: stayed in club room on the 14th floor. Room has two twin beds, plus sofa. There’s a nice bathtub, with separate toilets. On the first night we stayed the toilet was together with the bathtub area so it was convenient. On the next stay, the toilet was near the entrance, so we have to walk towards the door to use the toilet. It’s slightly different design. We would prefer to stay in the room with the attached toilet.
Hotel Meals: We had our meals at the lounge. The lounge located on 2M with a view overlooking the outside, as well as there’s a room (without view) to accommodate more guests. The evening cocktail food is mainly finger food, small but good varieties. There are various alcoholic drinks available. We were served by Mr Sudesh and Ms, Misa Yamashita that was very attentive and helpful. And on the last day, as we need to depart early, we used the Crown Cafe on lobby floor. There’s a row of tables on the right that’s allocated for IHG Elite members. The food at the Cafe has more varieties, including the famous Fukuoka ramen. At the concierge, we were served by Masahito Yoshitake-san. As we have several luggages, he helped us to move them to the lobby, as well as hailed a taxi for us. The ride to Fukuoka Airport was about 15min. The driver was familiar with the streets and drove through some small roads to reach the airport in no time. And it costs us Yen1470. You will never get this price anywhere nearer in Tokyo, or Osaka.
Surrounding attractions: If you want to stay near Hakata Station, ANA Crowne is one of the best around. There’s a Toyota car rental nearby which we rented a car. At the Hakata station, there’s weekend activities during the season. In march, there’s wine and sake festivals, plus some light bites, oysters, chips, etc.
Overall, will i come back again? Definitely in all my trip to Fukuoka. Great location and service...
Read moreI stayed at the crowne plaza hotel during my recent business trip in February. I used to be a diamond member at IHG, but was downgraded to a basic club member a few months ago because most of my stays were at the Marriott. I decided to give this hotel a try based on the reviews I had seen online. Overall, my stay in this hotel was pleasant but there are a few areas that I would suggest improvements on. ||Firstly, I'm a vegetarian and being vegetarian in Japan is a bit tricky. During breakfast, for example the hotel has a huge variety of items but it is not clear which items are vegetarian friendly and which ones aren't. For example, the Japanese curry did not clearly call out that it had beef in it and I only found out when I asked the staff if it was vegetarian and was told that it wasn't. I hope the hotel address is this by clearly labelling the food and calling out which ones are vegetarian friendly and which ones are not.||Secondly, the rooms in the hotel look a little bit dated and I feel like the hotel could invest some money in refurbishing the rooms and the general upkeep of the property. In particular, the gym, while being 24 hours open was dated with equipment looking like it was from the '70s or '80s. ||Finally, the hotel has a policy of pre buying breakfast vouchers at a discount. If you don't buy these vouchers in the lobby at least a day in advance, You end up being charged more for breakfast. I found this policy a bit strange. I suppose it helps the hotel plan the quantity of food that they need to make for breakfast. But nevertheless, I feel like this process could be made simpler and people shouldn't have to pre-buy breakfast at a cheaper rate.||All in all, because of the hotel's excellent location, I'm planning to stay there once more during my upcoming business trip. However, with IHG refusing to status match or provide an accelerated fast track to diamond promotion, I am considering staying at the Hilton instead who have offered me a diamond status as part of their...
