From Shuzenji Station, it's an 8-minute bus ride plus a 5-minute walk. There are 2 to 5 buses an hour from 6:17 to 20:51) from Bus Stop #1 on the left side of Shuzenji Station's South Exit.||||Walk down the street in the same direction as the bus, past Shuzenji Temple. Turn right up a small road when you see a green sign for this place (Kanji only). At the end of the road, turn left and you'll see the entrance on the right.||||Even though the building is kind of ugly on the outside, it's pretty nice in the room! It's just a typical Japanese-style room with nothing special but it's quite spacious and clean. There's a TV, fridge, low table, seating area, sink, and toilet with washlet. You sleep on futons. Towels and yukata are in the cupboard. There is no wifi.||||You can hear people upstairs but generally it's very quiet. The shared bathroom/indoor hotspring is average and opens from 6 am to 11 pm.||||Shuzenji Temple is a mere 60 meters away. It's a quiet town with not much to do other than wandering around the beautiful bamboo forest (also lit at night), walking along the river, and soaking your feet in foot hot springs - a quaint and peaceful place great for a relaxing getaway.||||Since we didn't get a meals-included package, we had trouble finding a restaurant that served dinner as most seemed to be open only at lunch time even though many restaurants are listed on the guide. There is a convenience store next to the bus stop that opens...
Read moreMy stay was during January 2016.||||The place was within reasonable distance from JR Shuzenji station (an 8-10 minute bus ride to the main Onsen district, then a short uphill walk of 5 minutes). It might look run down on the exterior, but the interior was well kept, clean and tidy. Rooms were spacious, decor was old fashioned onsen ryoken style, which was quite homely. Onsen was kinda small though comfortable, clean and well maintained.||||We made our bookings through a Japanese booking website (not the official page), which provides dinner and breakfast. (One thing to note: a quick check shows that they no longer offers dinner on premise, until further notice). In the neighbourhood there are restaurants available, so it's not a deal breaker.||||Dinning room and hot springs area were on the ground floor, while some of the guest rooms are upstairs. If you can't climb stairs, then better check first before booking. Otherwise, it's a pretty comfortable onsen ryokan that offers quiet and...
