Nestled in the charming town of Izu, Japan, this local restaurant is a true culinary treasure. From the moment we stepped in, we were warmly welcomed by the husband and wife who run the establishment. Their genuine hospitality and homely conversation (thanks to Google translate) made our dining experience so sweet.
The menu features an array of beautifully prepared local cuisine. We indulged in the pork bowl, pork ramen, chicken karaage, and fried eggplant. Each dish was bursting with flavour.
Adding to the enchanting atmosphere, the husband played wonderful classic tunes on his record player, creating a nostalgic and relaxing ambiance. We also enjoyed a couple of carafes of sake and homemade plum liquor, both of which were delicious.
The restaurant's ambiance, combined with the owners' delightful company, creates a truly traditional and authentic dining experience. It's a place where you can savour delicious hearty food and enjoy some great music. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Izu. Thank you for...

Wife and husband team couldn't have been nicer. Food good; atmosphere so sincere it is off the charts. If I have it right, patrons bring them albums and that's their collection that they play. Aretha Franklin and Robert Flack (had passed just weeks before) were on the turntable for my time there. Wife makes plumb liqueur which was a delightful digestif after my pork ramen bowl and whisky highball (of course). Reports of breakfast excellence that I see now make me wish I could have taken in a breakfast too. I hope you enjoy this spot as...

The vibe is laid-back and warm, with a great vinyl collection—and yes, he actually plays them! They serve both Japanese and international food, and everything we had was tasty. We even got to try a shot of homemade local spirit, which was a fun surprise. If I ever find myself in Shuzenji again, I’m definitely visiting again. Just a really great...
