Tomoya Kamakura Komachi — Local services in Kamakura

Apparently a popular spot in Kamakura thanks to their “Daibutsuyaki” - a pancake-like treat with different kinds of filling. I originally stopped because I was keen for some Hokkaido ice cream, which they also serve, and I decided to get both.

The vanilla ice cream in a cone (450 yen) and was delicious! So creamy and tasty - I enjoyed it more than Japan’s popular ice cream Creamia. You can also get it in a cup if you like. I got the plain custard Daibutsuyaki (220 yen) and it was also delicious - no wonder it was popular. It was very soft - the cake part was exactly like a pancake and it had a pretty generous amount of filling too.

Make sure you eat off to the side and don’t impede people lining up. There was a small garabage bin inside that you could throw your rubbish in as well.

Saw this place on a few YouTuber videos. It was just ok. I think people come here because of the Buddha pancake shape. I ordered the red bean with cream cheese and the sweet potato. Both were barely warm. Might have been better if it was hot or fresh.
