American here. We stayed at the Big Buddha Holiday Hotel on our first night in Japan. I booked it on booking.com. Everything was easy, from booking to arrival through to leaving. This is not a regular hotel. Rather more like a vrbo, but with way better communications and amenities.
We stayed on floor 3 in an apartment with a bath and laundry. We entered with a code and found the sweetest kindest snack bag and a stocked fridge. Everything was thoughtful and super clean. Very welcoming!
The location was excellent for exploring Kamakura's lovely streets, the beach, and of course, the big Buddha!

Kamakura was a calm and relaxing break from the big cities and this hotel/apartment was really well located for a 6 min walk to the station and to get around all the local attractions and close to the supermarket too. The apartment itself was really well set up, it had everything we needed and more (fully equipped kitchen, washer, dryer, etc) and there were lots of thoughtful touches throughout. I had an incident where my phone fell through the cracks of the elevator (totally my fault) and they helped me to retrieve it immediately - mailing it back to my home for me as well. The phone incident took up some of our time and I couldn’t take any photos of the room - but that just means we will have to come back and try...
