During my trip to Kyoto, I stumbled upon Halal Honolu Wagyu Udon, a cozy spot that immediately caught my attention for its unique halal offerings. While the restaurant is famous for its wagyu udon, I decided to try something different – the chicken katsu curry – and I’m so glad I did.
The chicken katsu was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, fried to golden perfection without being overly greasy. The curry sauce was rich, flavorful, and had just the right balance of spice and sweetness, complementing the katsu beautifully. It felt like a warm, hearty dish that was both satisfying and comforting – perfect after a long day of exploring Kyoto’s streets.
The restaurant itself had a welcoming and peaceful ambiance, and the staff were incredibly kind and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable.

Read moreThis resto offers a variety of halal dishes in the heart of Kyoto. The portions for several menu items are huge, making them great for sharing, but unfortunately, the taste needs significant improvement. While the food caters to halal dietary requirements, it falls short in flavor and overall quality. If my wallet permits, I might try other items on the menu in the future to see if they fare better :)
Another major concern is the restaurant’s location. It is situated next to massage parlors and love hotels, which may not align with the preferences or values of many Muslim diners. This setting is especially inappropriate for families or those bringing childrem, as it can feel uncomfortable and unsuitable for a wholesome dining experience.
Overall, the restaurant has potential but is held back by both its location and the underwhelming quality of its food. I hope the management addresses these issues in the future to better cater to their...
Read moreActually, I was heading to the Ramen Honolu Premier and did not know this place was existed, but I took a wrong turn and entered this store instead 😅 But I guess it was a good serendipity? since it's been almost a year I havent had udon.
We have to order through the machine outside first and give the ticket to the staff inside. The eating space is in the 2nd floor with a quite narrow stairs, it could have maybe up to 15 people. I had their wagyu udon and when the food came, I was a bit shocked by the size of the bowl, it was bigger than my face! 😂 But the portion was normal tho, it was delicious, light, and fulfilling. The staff were also kind and helpful. Good halal option when visiting...
