Booking experience:
This was probably the one activity we didn’t book on Klook and didn’t want to go to the location scouting for kimono experience. So I looked up and found their website and booked it in a jiffy. The whole process was so smooth and quick I was surprised. Moreover I got 1000¥ discount for paying online. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
For our daughter we paid at the counter as she decided to wear one with her mom at the shop. So that worked out to be 6K ¥.
As I booked this for my wife I made her write a detailed review in her own words!
“The place was well maintained . The lady who tied it for me had 40years of experience. They had a huge selection of Kimonos. They made you wear it also very professionally. It’s your first and probably only time wearing one so it was special.
There are differ ranges of Kimonos. The basic package ( what we took) included simple Kimonos( they were beautiful too) and a plain slip, a huge selection of Obi, a simple hairstyle, chappals and a purse. In each section, you can pay a little higher amount and go for a more stylish option. For example , an extra 1000yen will get you an elaborate hairstyle or accessories. For a frilly Obi, pay an extra 1000yen. I just stayed with what my initial booking covered. And also chose to wear my shoes as I knew we had a lot of walking to do. I was happy with it. My package costed 4500yen.
My child decided she wanted to wear one after being impressed with the wooden-chappals. So for her it was an on the spot booking which costed us more. She also chose a yukata rather than a kimono as it would be more comfortable. She got a plait and a hair accessory, which was 1000yen. Her’s costed us 6000yen.
They give nice big bags to store your belongings that can be picked up when you return the dress. Very convenient.
What could have been better was that you have a place to change. There is not even a screen for you to change and come out in your underclothes. There are other ladies who are getting fitted into the kimonos, some getting hair done and you are expected to change right there in their presence. Both of us found it uncomfortable. Secondly when a child is wearing the dress, you need to make it more simpler for them. My Kimonos had 3 layer of clothes and some 4 -5 threads that tightened it into its place. It was hard to breathe but as an adult who somehow manage it for the fun of the experience. If a child is made to wear it the same way, they don’t react as an adult would. My child found it hard to sit or eat in it. She just wanted to remove it to be free.
Suggestion to user, don’t get your child to wear it.!Or get store to make some concessions on keeping it more like an overcoat with a string to keep it in place. More...
Read moreI had a reservation at 10.30 for standard plan. when we arrived my boyfriend wanted to have too, they said okay. But i couldn’t find what i am looking for the standard plan and wanted to switch to couple plan so my boyfriend could have too. Because also with standard plan you have very few options and always you like something else its extra. This is also same for belt, bag, hair.. I asked them to change the plan they said you have to have another reservation for that too. But we had already had reservations they were okay to take care of us, when we want to change the plan they are asking to make online reservations. The other reservation slot was open at 12.30. They said you have to wait till that time. Why can’t i use my time for reservation that i already have and make us wait for 2 hours? So its okay to choose the things extra, add people but not changing the plan? I made another reservation at 12.30 I just asked them to show what i can choose till that time. They didn’t help me with that. I had to wait even there are no customers. While we are waiting a family came they asked them if they have reservations they said no and they started to process their request. While waiting other staff came to help to us but the girl at the front reception (light brown hair girl with black cardigan) told each them to not to help us and wait till 12.30. If we wouldn’t pay already online we would leave. But unfortunately no refund on the day so we had to wait. The other staff helpful they try but as i understand the head of the staff pretty much controls them.
In the end I liked my choice and hair style. I am grateful for the all the staff that tried to help me and did their best. But first 90 minutes waiting downsizing...
Read moreThe kimono selection wasn't good for each size range. After finally finding a Medium I liked enough to wear I was told I was a Large because I'm around 167cm. Nobody explained what sizes to look at or measured us before. Yet the fabric they tucked in at my waist was more than double thickness than my friends was, implying there was excess fabric. The dresser couldn't get one side of this tucked in properly, despite multiple attempts it was still bunching at the side, again excess fabric. They should have realised their mistake multiple times but they don't care. The staff kept turning down my suggestions for an obi colour. It's my rental and if I don't colour match perfectly that's my choice. The staff showed me 1 style option for a belt, instead of letting me explore all they had on display. The staff then tried to talk me out of the hairstyle I chose so I don't think anyone knew how to curl hair. They didn't do a great job so I had to brush it out a bit and it was uneven/bumpy at one side where she pinned it so again I had to try to fix it myself. I also had a choice of 3 decoration sets for my hair, despite paying double than the standard. Even though everything I picked was standard except for the $2200 yen hairstyle the total was over $100,00 yen. Complete waste of money. Get more options of Kimonos in all sizes, train your staff to do all hairstyles or don't offer them and actually listen to the customer to make sure theyre happy instead of pushing your own opinions. Also get a measuring tape so you're not guessing what size people are and getting it wrong. Will not be recommending...
