We stayed at Bijuu for three nights in Kyoto. I was finding it challenging locating decent modern accommodations that felt boutique but without the super basic accommodations of traditional Ryokan's. This was a great in between option! This location is steps away from a lot of the big shopping areas but removed from the craziness of the tourist districts. The service was impeccable and every request honored. From booking massages at local hotels, to booking restaurants, to delivering breakfast every morning, they were amazing every step of the way.||||The rooms were modern and felt more like a mini apartment than a hotel. The room had lots of room to stretch out all of our luggage. The property felt new, clean, and connected to local culture without feeling overly touristy. ||||A couple points I should note, this isn't a full service hotel. If you like full service hotels you may want to rethink this as an option. Breakfast can be delivered for an extra charge in the morning and it's either a western or eastern style set menu every day. If English is your only language, television viewing may be challenging since there are no English channels to watch. ||||There aren't hotel staff in the building 24 hours a day but they do provide contact info in the case of an emergency. One day our hot water went out but this was quickly fixed and assured that it would never happen again. It seemed like something that was a fluke and out of their control. They handled it very well and went out of their way to make sure that we were happy with even giving us a super late check out time the next day. ||||Also, the property is a bit pricey for not being full service. ||||Overall, a really delightful property and I would definitely come back. Just know that you may not have all the amenities that you would find in a...
Read moreThe Bijuu Hotel has everything going for it. It has an excellent location for sightseeing, is small (only 4 rooms) and provides excellent service. The main accommodation is divided between a spacious sleeping area and a living area. The two are separated by a high divider thereby providing privacy from the bedroom area. All the furnishings and accessories are of high quality and aesthetically chosen. There is a separate kitchenette and a bathroom with a king sized bath/shower. There is a small balcony too for the apt. that we stayed in. Breakfast was included and brought to the room. There is a coffee shop on the ground floor of the building and a restaurant on the first floor. The receptionist spoke very good English and was more than helpful with her suggestions for eating places and helping us book for our ongoing travel arrangements. We felt that our stay at the Bijuu was real value for money and would warmly recommend...
Read moreAdmittedly it only got two rooms, room 501 however is more than just a room its a massive suite with a huge bathtub in the middle of the separate living room!!!||It is full of special architectural features and the furniture is all international designers, minimalistic stile.||||The location could not be better and the staff (reception only attended during the day, so be careful not to arrive after 7pm for check in) does not only speak perfect english it is also well trained and very helpful. ||||While the price suggests 5star amenities, it only offers basic B&B comfort. So it is more for the independent traveler who looks for peace and quiet luxury, but if you are: I guess one of the most beautiful ways to spend away from home, you...
