Kyoto Kimono Rental Kyo no Yume Kiyomizu Store — Local services in Kyoto

Beautiful kimonos and excellent service!

I had seen multiple videos on TikTok renting beautiful kimonos from Kyo no Yume and was incredibly satisfied by my experience! Definitely recommend if you want to have a kimono rental experience in the traditional vibes of Kyoto super close to attractions like Kiyomizu-dera and Sannenzaka/Ninenzaka.

We walked in with no reservation around 9:30am and rented 3 kimonos for a full day/overnight. One girl speaks both English and Chinese and was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the experience.

My lace kimono was very comfortable and surprisingly bearable in the summer heat. I was able to layer my band with lots of different accessories. You also get to choose a cute purse as part of the outfit to hold your items like your phone during the day. Hair was included in the package, and we were able to add as many accessories as we want. They even have irons/rollers to style your bangs!

They also helped us hire a photographer who speaks Chinese to take photos of us in the area. The photographer was super knowledgeable and guided us to less crowded areas that still had great views, and the photos turned out great.

A bit hard to find on google maps as they have 2 locations. We were nervous about going to the wrong location. Upon getting there we showed the reservation email to the worked and she said this isn't Kyoto yume, we are kyonoyume. We got confused too so we walked outside and double checked the email which had kyonoyume email at the bottom so we knew it was the right place. We reversed the translation and showed it to someone else who helped us right away. Great selection of kimonos. I did feel a little uncomfortable changing in front of other customers. I've always been dressed privately in other places. It felt a bit tight and hectic even though it was the 2nd time slot of the day. When returning, it was even more chaotic and busy inside. Absolutely 5 stars From the collection they have to the staff and everything I've been to another store yesterday but they had only 3 of my size and they were horrible, they made me think I won't be able to find anything, yet as I was walking by I ran by this store and saw that they have options but I had to come the next day to rent it. So many people took my photos in their kimono 👘 and others asked me where I got it.
